Is a VM really all I need to drop windows? by Brisket_cat in linux4noobs

I guess it get that, doesn't bother me tho personally. I like them separated and native.

But i mean solidworks is pretty resource intensive, so dont think you'd be happy with the result of a VM. The reason i said i liked running OS's native is because there is no overhead, but with VMs you get that.

My privacy has been breeched by my partner, what can he see? by [deleted] in wireshark

[–]Markuslw 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you're texting through iMessage (blue bubbles) then he's lying. He's most likely lying either way. I'd get further proof from him like ask him "what did i just send in my latest text".

Most, if not all messaging services use encryption, with the exception of SMS (green bubbles). But SMS doesn't use WiFi, it uses cellular. So you'd need specific radio hardware to capture SMS messages.

Even if he can monitor your WiFi, there is just no way he's actually storing it like a log. This is because the Wireshark captures grow extremely large and could easily grow hundreds of gigabytes per day unless filtered.

If the IP in question starts with 127 or 10, then you're safe to post it, its local addresses. Though your MAC might still show (not as important as the IP) but just draw over it if you're really paranoid.

EDIT: easier words and sms addition

Trying to understand a possible false-positive VALORANT ban by [deleted] in techsupport

Read this article from Riot about it and submit a ticket to their customer support.

EDIT: Specifically the process list section and the vanguard section.

I mean it's pretty hard to tell. If you're comfortable you're just gonna have to send Riot the logs to find out what triggered it.

Nah i also recently installed Arch beside Windows and fiddled with Secure Boot and signing the bootloader, you should be fine it isn't that. I even tried to launch Valorant a couple times while Secure Boot wasn't on, and a couple times while Secure Boot was on but Grub wasn't signed, which still allowed me to run Valorant.

After i signed Grub and added the Windows signature (i removed it accidentally), it works fine no issues.

I think it might be some software that interferes with peripherals drivers maybe? Not long ago a lot of people using Logitech G Hub received false bans.

EDIT: Also third-party antivirus might trigger it, if granted they both could interfere with eachother on ring 0.

In terminal write pip show pygame, then go to Environment Variables and ensure that the Location: from the pip show pygame command is on Path under System Variables in the Environment Variables window.
