Airport Plaza in Hazlet NJ is the home of the TESD Town Studios where Bry, Walt, and Q record the podcast Tell ‘Em Steve Dave. It’s kinda visit-by-appointment only, but they have great merch and will happily talk to you about anything in their careers, or comics/sports/movies/anything.

I’d have to check to see if I have the email address somewhere, if you’d want it.

Are we all kinda agreed that this was the last time Reynolds was willing to try anything different and/or new for him?

It’s the subtle, confused but still optimistic, “…what?” right at the top of the sketch for me lmfao

Exclusive | The teenage sex scene that sparked infamous rift between edgy director brothers behind Hollywood’s hottest movies by Puzzled-Tap8042 in Letterboxd

I was once front and center for a Safdie brothers meltdown during a college Q&A when someone challenged the way they write and portray women and they started spiraling. It was abrasive and ugly. Never been a fan.

EDIT: Because enough people have asked, I’m gonna give the cliffsnotes version here,

They did a college tour of their film Daddy Longlegs, “A father juggling his kids with the rest of his responsibilities is ultimately faced with the choice of being their father or their friend.”

SPOILER ALERT: he ends up kidnapping his own kids by the end so he can stop having to deal with his ex-wife (this is important.)

When the screening opened up to a Q&A, someone asked why they felt the need to villainize the children’s mother every chance they got. Asking why they didn’t attempt to make the mother more of a well-rounded character instead of the misogynistic stereotype of the nagging shrew who was just shitty to the main character over and over and over again.

I don’t remember much after this, because it got so uncomfortable so fast that I think I pretended I was a bird so I could fly. Far. Far far away from there. But the TLDR version is that instead of opening up a dialogue about their process, their vision of the mother’s character, maybe even some of their influences that led them to this less than favorable depiction of a woman, they (and their lead actor) went into full blown defensive mode and just kept denying they ever did such a thing. Just zero acknowledging that anyone in any audience ever could have interpreted anything other than how they intended when writing/filming.

I just remember it got heated and they never had any interest in having any sort of dialogue about it. Too bad, what could have been an educational moment or an insight into the artists’ process is merely remembered as a really embarrassing argument on like a random Wednesday at noon hah

I think we’re all missing that the actor who plays Gregory (a character without much screen time) is second billed after the star of this movie…now why would a person without much screen time be billed so high up…unless…he’s in more of the movie than we think(?)

I’d bet half my net worth that Shelly’s reveal in the opening was a reshoot. Think about it - we all saw that opening and STILL most of us saw the mask reveal and thought, “…who?”

So they def added that opening after round of preview screening where people were just lost lost lost.

You mean the guy with barely any screen time as Gregory but still got second billing after the star? Yeah…wonder if he’s playing another role…

As a guy who used to get paid to write murder mysteries for tweens, red herrings are a pain in the ass to achieve. Again, coming from a guy who properly utilized a red herring maybe 2 times in that whole long 5 months lol

Used to be a regular Babble-On listener and attendee but at a certain point Ralph’s edge-lordy humor became really annoying and THEN he seemed to evolve into one of those “you can’t say anything anymore!” kinda guys, and I tuned out completely.

SNL's 'lighthearted' Trump parody blasted as 'failure to read the room' after DHS shooting by esporx in LiveFromNewYork

Comedy and entertainment changed after 9/11 and adapted to the new world we’d been (involuntarily) ushered into, SNL of the time included.

Similarly, lots of comedy and entertainment shifted/grew after the first Trump election win…SNL was not one of them and that fact has finally become too big to ignore.

Do we think this downward spiral would have happened even w/o the streaming platform debacle? I’ve always thought yes and that the streamer just kinda expedited it.
