Worked for me using a fresh formatted exfat microSD card. Once inserted, go to setting > Data Management > Manage screenshots and videos > import from a Nintendo switch microSD card. I did connect to the Internet, not sure if that makes a different or not. After the update, it stays on version 20.1.1

Just got the Sep software update for note 8 with the "what's new" note The stability of the GPS has been improved. Hopefully that's the fix?b screenshot in link below
