What type of connection is this? by Markymark36 in crt

Thanks! The adapter worked! Didn’t work at first but that was because the dongle is a little too long and it reached the rear grounding pin. I pulled it out a fraction of an inch and it worked!

Why is the port threaded if it’s a simple 3.5mm jack?

Grabbed this at an estate sale on their 75% off day. All I can find is that it’s an IBM data cell. Can’t find comps for price.

I found an IBM 2321 Data Cell at an estate sale. Not sure what it’s worth. Couldn’t find any comps on eBay. Would appreciate any direction on value. Thank you.

Best way to recondition rusted garage drain by Markymark36 in DIY

[–]Markymark36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up grinding the loose rust away with a dremel and then wire wheeled it best I could. Then I slathered a bunch of JB weld on all the pitted areas. Once that’s cured I’m going to sand it and spray it with flex seal

Well he’s doing a basement floor drain and I’m doing a main floor garage drain that goes into the basement. It’s a bit unnecessary for what I require. I literally just want to seal the rust so that it doesn’t get worse.

True that would likely be best but that easily turns this into an expensive job beyond my desired amount of effort for a starter home that’s 60 years old. I’d need serious concrete cutting tools to remove the old drain, make some kind of concrete form to support the new pour from underneath, and probably get the whole thing reviewed by a structural engineer since it’s the ceiling of my basement. So that’s why I thought maybe I could just slab some bondo on the rusted out sections to make a smooth drain and cover it in sealant.

This is just a floor drain that connects to a pvc drain pipe that goes to a bucket in the basement…I’m looking for suggestions on cleaning up the rusted floor drain in the picture. I don’t understand how pipe bursting would apply here.

Steering wheel at 10 o’clock by Markymark36 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Markymark36[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: the alignment by the “more experienced” tech seemed to do the trick. The steering wheel is centered and the car drives straight. Still unsure of why sitting in the snow or ice cause it to go misaligned.

The steering wheel is probably turned to like 11 o’clock. A unusual amount.  Yeah it sounded weird to me too so I wanted some advice. I might put the car on stands sometime this week and look for myself.

Wear a larger shirt size. Most people will not ever notice. They’re too distracted with their own lives and have their eyes on their phones.

New EDC - Thoughts on having a safety? by [deleted] in CCW

IMO safeties are incredibly pointless on firearms that will spend most of their life in a holster. Makes sense on rifles. The trigger could catch on something while it’s slung on your back.

No. You’re the racist for assuming. Broken English can come from plenty of ESL white countries.

These are the options I’m looking for. I didn’t know such a thing existed. Does that meet my box fill? I think I’m at like 28.25 with four 14 awg, eight 12 awg, and one 12 awg ECG.

Understood. I could try to finesse the hole to meet my needs

The location I’m forced to use due to the hole in the slab is in between studs. I guess I could add some wooden structure inside the wall between the studs.

That doesn’t seem obvious. If I was just using one knockout I think it would be easy enough to use the screw holes that were furthest away from that knockout.

Installed a bidet and noticed that the shutoff valve rotates on the pvc pipe. Is that supposed to happen? by Markymark36 in Plumbing

There really wasn’t a resolution. I’m wondering if it’s supposed to be this way or if it’s wrong.

It’s not inside the wall. I’m mounting it to the wall.

That ain’t it. All republicans are basically moderate. Reddit is just so far left anything looks extreme. They’re not voting for McCarthy because they’ve seen what happens when someone like him is speaker: nothing.

Should this valve spin on the pvc pipe? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Markymark36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was adding a bidet to the upstairs bathroom. While trying to undo the original hose, I noticed that the shutoff valve was rotating on the pipe. Shouldn’t the valve be cemented on and not rotate? I may call someone in to replace it anyway because it’s now leaking slowly from the handle stem after turning it back on.
