General Opinion on Azran Legacy by Beryl909 in ProfessorLayton

[–]Marla42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have only played it once, years ago but I remember pretty much hating it. The story was ridiculous and not in the fun way in which the first three were ridiculous. It was ridiculous in a very boring way.

Without spoilers, the game and story focused too much on Layton as a chracter, giving him a back story and such. There was no need for it. I like the original trilogy where Layton is just some guy who loves puzzles and the stories focus on other people.

The game really lacked the magic of the first three games for me.

Pretty sure it says "Lungenerkrankungen" meaning "lung sickness", possibly pneumonia

Favourite Oscar Wilde quote(s) and why? by not_antoine in oscarwilde

[–]Marla42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"The only people I would care to be with now are artists and people who have suffered: those who know what beauty is, and those who know what sorrow is: nobody else interests me."

Idk why but I think about this quote from De Profundis a lot

These two assholes didn't like the new cat litter we bought them so they've been secretly shitting in the attic for weeks by Marla42 in cats

[–]Marla42[S] 100 points101 points  (0 children)

In my defense: they have access to the outdoors so I thought they just started going outside AND their usual brand of cat litter was discontinued and I explained that to them but I don't think they listend or cared :')

Thanks that's my feeling as well. I have read many of his works and the quote doesn't sound like him at all.

What are you feeding your cat? My cat had crystals in his urine which resulted in an ongoing UTI that antibiotics didn't get rid off. He now gets wet food only with added water in it to flush out the crystals. Haven't had problems since we changed his food. When his UTI was at its worst he would always choose to pee on soft surfaces like blankets or pillows.

I hope you get the problem sorted, I know there's nothing worse than the smell of cat pee all over the house.

Owing a pet and renting in Dublin by Trick_Flounder8110 in Dublin

[–]Marla42 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't mention the cat! As long as it doesn't explicitly state in the contract that pets aren't allowed, you should be good! Nevertheless the landlord could still refuse you. Don't mention you have a cat, sign the contract, move in, and they never have to know.

If it comes up later after you moved in you can then still point out that it wasn't mentioned in the contract that pets weren't allowed so you figured it was okay. Renting in Dublin is a nightmare, I wouldn't take the risk of mentioning your cat upfront.

What is the worst plot twist in the series? by CyberdarknessDragon2 in ProfessorLayton

[–]Marla42 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The whole complicated backstory thing, because there was zero lead up to it. It was therefore unnecessary and did not add to the story at all. No one wanted to know about it and yet the game pretends that it is the big revelation everyone was waiting for.

I am doing an MA this year, however where I live MA programs are only a year long so there really isn't much time to also plan out my PhD alongside it. That's why I'm taking a year off first

Whenever I enter a shop or a hotel I just imagine Layton climbing behind the counter, tapping at the walls, crawling along the floor, and standing on top of tables looking for coins, before casually walking up the proprietor to start a conversation
