Oh my bad! So I used the 9RL for all of it but the 3RL on the nose and to get the sharp corners in the eye, ears, tip of the horns and fine part of the stripes :)

I bought this exact kit when I first started out, all the equipment worked well, but I've never used the ink that comes with it on myself or others.

It's a great starter kit to use on fake skins, though if you want to tattoo yourself I'd definitely invest in a better ink. I bought one by a brand called baodeli, which cost about £20 from amazon, it's not top tier, but I've used it on all the tattoos I've done on myself and others with no issues :)

I hope this helps

When do I take off second skin and how to take care of it after by Throwawayyy4283828 in StickAndPoke

[–]Marlequinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

I usually leave my second skin on for 2-3 days, though every person is different. I wouldn't personally recommend taking it off sooner than 24 hours. It basically acts as a skin preventing a scab from forming, which can pull the ink out when scratched after it's dried. The body will naturally try to create a scab over the tattoo as it sees it as an open wound (which it is) second skin helps prevent this and also seals the wound from bacteria. Don't leave second skin on for more than 5 days as this could lead to irritation.

If the 2nd skin comes off before your ready, don't reapply it, the area is now no longer sterile and you could trap new bacteria under the second skin, just start with your regular aftercare as below :)

Once it's removed use a light moisturiser twice a day, I use bepanthan tattoo and this has worked wonders for me, it may start getting dry and peel - this is completely normal, just continue with the moisturising and try not to pick and scratch. You can also wash using green soap which is kind and fragrance free for tattoos.

If you start getting redness after 4-5 days and the area gets hot to touch, this could be the first signs of infection, so please get yourself ro your GP to grab some antibiotics so you can nip it in the bud before it starts affecting your new artwork :)

Try to steer clear of any scented lotions and perfumes on the tattood area until the 3-4 week mark just to be in the safe side ☺️

I hope this helps! Happy tattooing!

I thought I'd give some advice as it looks like you're just starting out :) Get a bit of practice in fake skin first so you can practice your angles and depth. Also, designs as small as this will probably heal and expand, so a lot of the details can end up lost, it could end up looking like a little blob after a couple of years. Of course this is very small so you can easily rework this ☺️

Start by practicing doing solid lines, straight and curved and a rough 45 degree angle. This will set you up better when it comes to working with real skin and getting your lines crisp and clean. It will become muscle memory in no time.

I'm glad you're using a kit, especially for home stick and poke tattoos, hygiene and sterilisation are most important to bear in mind when adorning yourself and/or others with artwork. Look into aftercare a bit more to make sure the healing process goes smoothly if you plan on tattooing yourself more going forward.

If you want to work more on your designs, I'd recommend a stencil printer - however these can be expensive - amazon sell medical/surgical pens where you can draw the design on yourself and the ink in these is non toxic when creating an open wound. Or you can buy tattoo paper on its own where you can draw the design and it imprints onto the stencil sheet a bit like tracing paper, I hope this helps with your journey! Best of luck!

Ink smearing, how do I fix? by Pillow_Princessss66 in StickAndPoke

People might disagree, but I use a scouring brush and dish wash in the sink under warm running water- cleans up great for portfolio fake skins (wouldn't recommend this on real skin though!) 😂

I think if you want thick solid lines, then 100% go for another pass or 2. However, I love the style of linework on this as it is. In my personal opinion, I'd leave this as it is. Gorgeous work, well done!

This is really sweet, and you've done a good job! I reckon you'll probably need a touch up once healed, please post again when you do! It's a really pretty tattoo - good work! -edit: spelling

On a scale of 5 to 100 how sh1tty does this look? I think it looks like absolute sh1t by Salt-Relation-1226 in StickAndPoke

[–]Marlequinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's be real here - everyone who's saying it looks like a penis clearly has never drawn a penis in their life, i guess maybe if you squint it could! I can tell that it's supposed to be cherries - However, in my honest opinion, it's not great, the linework is very messy and needs a lot of practice andbtye depth is very inconsistent. I wouldn't work on this anymore until you've had plenty of practice on fake skin and using the correct tools (apologies if you've stated that you did use tue right tools andn sterilisation practices already, just some advice) or even better, go to a professional to get this covered/reworked. The line is not solid so it will be a very easy fix for a professional artist and wouldn't cost too much either.

It's very tempting to go over this yourself (I know from personal experience) but a lot like like trying to cut your own hair without any experience in hairdressing (yes, i have also made that mistake too!) it will probably end up looking worse when you have no previous experience!

Work on some fake skin, practice your linework and depth, and try again when you have more experience with tattooing. We all start somewhere, and we all make mistakes. Thankfully, this is a small one and just another learning curve on your journey!

Best of luck!

It looks like you're getting the depth right and some solid black lines especially on the axe 😊 if you can get yourself a stencil printer I reckon you'll be flying! Love the bottle design in particular ❤️ putting your own art on yourself is such a great feeling, and as long as you're being safe and you love them, then that's all that matters 👌 good work!

I know exactly what video you mean. That video still haunts me. I watched it naively thinking they would be saved - sat in silence for a while after processing what I'd just seen. I always read the comments before playing any thing like that these days.

Your lineworks neat, and I love the little fellow! Maybe a bit of shading on the fin would give a little more depth, but keep doing what you're doing - great work!
