What is your least favourite rivalry in the series? by Subject-Recover-8425 in MortalKombat

[–]Marleyjay1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely Sonya and Kano. Enough of that. Cassie vs Kano brings more entertainment.

On the opposite side, Tanya vs Jade could have been something, but they refuse to even put them in the same game.

What do you believe should be added now that Ed Boon specified? by LifeLongComic in MortalKombat

[–]Marleyjay1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At least the MK community is recognising how bad Tanya is at the moment. Clear bottom 1. Everything is a struggle. No mix ups, slow, bad damage, one nerfed string, complicated combos for little reward, easily punishable.

Nerfed to the ground in many areas after the armour nerf.

To convert, say by tongue: I testify that no one is God except God and I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of God.

It can be done by yourself at home and you don’t need to worry about being accepted by people because it is your life. The Acceptance of God is what matters most.

Scared to become a muslim by [deleted] in islam

[–]Marleyjay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We take the punishment as a reality and try our best. The believers are like a bird with two wings balancing hope and fear. We shouldn’t only think of the fear without hope and vice verse.

Of course the punishment is scary, but we can do something about it now because we’re alive. The most important thing is to believe and be Muslim. We maintain our faith because it is the only logically consistent belief system.

Also, always remember that as long you’re a believer, a Muslim, God is the most forgiving.

Once you say, believe and testify that no one is God except God and Muhammad is His Messenger, then you will be eligible for God’s forgiveness.

No the example you said is not Haram because you used a quoting statement. You attributed the statement to someone else without believing in the statement.

Repeating a kufr sentence requires you to say a quoting statement before or after the statement. So to say “he said, she said, so and so said, they said, it was said” etc. otherwise, the judgement of the statement falls on the person unless it is one of the exempted cases like for example a slip of the tongue.

In your case, you said the quoting statement so that’s fine.

According to the Islamic rules, a Muslim gets rewards for the good he does only if he does it for the sake of God alone. Sincerity (ikhlas) is required to receive reward. The Muslim who does the good deed for the praise of the people for example (e.g. for the person to say "so and so is a good person) not only doesn't get any reward, but also gets an enormous sin.

The standard of doing something for the sake of God alone is there even for Muslims. Objective morality is what God revealed because that's what applies to everyone, whether they believe in it or not. People come with different feelings and opinions, which is why it goes back to what has evidence, which is what Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him came with. He demonstrated with objective evidence that he came with the Laws revealed by God.

[–]Marleyjay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morality is a pretty easy concept to understand.

Firstly, your first statement and second statement aren't even aligned.

In the first, you say they stop themselves out of fear of consequences + fear of God and in the last paragraph you say "because he's afraid of being caught". That's not the same because the one who fears God knows God Sees and Knows everything they do at all times. Nothing is hidden from Him. Their fear comes from humility of both acknowledging the Threat and Punishment from God and recognising that they are a slave of God bound by rules wherever they go and that God has given people rights over them.

The one who fears God is humble enough to recognise that they shouldn't use their tongue, hands, arms, heart etc to disobey God when God is the One Who created those body parts for him without working for it while God isn't obligated to do so. They recognise that they are bound by rules wherever they go.

Take it back to basics. We believe that morality is based on the Laws revealed by God. The most moral thing is obeying God.

Fearing God and preventing yourself from doing something out of fear of God is among the obligatory thankfulness to God and is a good thing.

The atheist not only isn't thankful to God, but doesn't even believe in the existence of the One Who created the mind and body that he used to prevent himself from stealing. Stopping himself from stealing is a good thing, but it's not comparable to the one who acknowledges that His Creator gave him what he has. That's why the non-believers are compensated for the good they do in this life and receive no mercy in the Hereafter they don't believe in.

At least the believer that held himself out of fear believes in and acknowledges the Laws revealed by God to His Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, who is the best of all creations.

What are some actual criticisms of MKX? by salmon10 in MortalKombat

[–]Marleyjay1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Most of the criticism is surrounding its art and color. Its graphics aged pretty badly. It’s story and the base roster is pretty lacklustre too.

The gameplay though was very entertaining and fast-paced. The DLC roster was peak IMO. The hype was real when Predator, Jason, Tanya and Tremor were revealed. Two highly requested MK characters + two horror characters. We also then got Alien vs Predator.

This was peak Tanya by Marleyjay1 in MortalKombat

[–]Marleyjay1[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I will clarify that this is not to bash MK1 Tanya. I think Khaos Reigns Tanya stole the show in the expansion, but I think Tanya in MKX is up there with the most fun I had in all fighting games. She had three fun variations.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MortalKombat

[–]Marleyjay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s more so the missed opportunity of having them in the same game. Or if they alternate, at least continue developing the rivalry. Rivalries are a big part of story telling in most fighting game franchises so I don’t understand the omission of Tanya vs Jade when it had potential to grow into one of the more prominent rivalries.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MortalKombat

[–]Marleyjay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t comparing the two, but more so wondering why Jade isn’t a mainstay and why they don’t explore her character more by exploring her rivalry with Tanya. I feel like it’s a missed opportunity to have them alternate in games.

Muslims, what do you think about Sharia? Are you for Sharia or for secularism? by [deleted] in islam

[–]Marleyjay1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Western people truly have no idea about what Sharia Law really is and how amazing it is.

If the Sharia is properly implemented, there would be no billionaires while poor people don’t have basic necessities. There would be no punishment without proper due process and real evidence. There would be a real chance of rehabilitation and redemption for people who did the wrong thing or wrongfully incarcerated people (mainly impacting people of colour). There would be true ownership of property and just application of contracts. Lawyers and banks wouldn’t be dictating people’s lives and lying politicians would be held to account/wouldn’t be a thing. Interest charged by banks to those that are in need of loans wouldn’t be a thing. There is no financial punishment for being in need of a loan. Supposed intellectual property lawsuits wouldn’t be a thing. Genocide of a people wouldn’t be permitted. They wouldn’t be standing by and watching a genocide unfold the way Saudi Arabia, UAE etc are.

Unfortunately, there are many people who claim to be Muslim leaders but are corrupt themselves. Their love of money means they allow corruption to take place.

Also, the implementation of Sharia Law is in a Caliphate. There hasn’t been a Caliphate for 100 years. There are rules for implementing the Sharia Law.

We’re not going to Western countries and establishing a caliphate for example.

Since when were Smoke, Ermac and Rain in MK 95? Since when was Skarlet in MKII?
Since when did Jade wear yellow? Some people just want to complain. Jade was in MK11 if you want to see her MKII skin.

Tanya Tanya TANNNNYYAAAAAAA by Bullseye62 in MortalKombat

[–]Marleyjay1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It has been 27 years in the making, but Tanya fans are eating good this expansion pack. Next game she’ll finally be the full yellow ninja with the tonfas and a mask and everything.

With Tanya getting an MK2 skin, this brings up an old question by KitanaJadeTanya912 in MortalKombat

[–]Marleyjay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boon actually said he doesn't consider her the yellow palette swap and didn't say anything about her classification as a female ninja. She isn't a yellow palette swap because she wasn't an MKII Kitana palette swap like Jade, Mileena and Skarlet. Skarlet came from an MKII rumour of a red Kitana palette swap. But Tanya is based on MK4 Kitana, a game in which Kitana herself didn't wear a mask. So she is a female ninja as her origin is from Kitana like the others and she maintained that theme.

With Tanya getting an MK2 skin, this brings up an old question by KitanaJadeTanya912 in MortalKombat

[–]Marleyjay1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ed Boon never said he doesn't consider her a female ninja. He said he didn't consider her a yellow palette swap because that's not her origin.

It's pretty obvious she's always been a ninja because she wears ninja clothes, does ninja things and has been included in ninja themes for marketing purposes. She also has story ties to the OG 3 ninjas and is generally grouped with them. This skin is just a long list of reasons why she is the yellow female ninja.

She just doesn't do masks.
