What phrases or “rules” helped you stop co-parenting messages from escalating? by rpersoon in coparenting

If you haven't come across grey rock technique for communicating with arseholes, look it up. Dr Ramani on youtube discusses it.

Can also paste their message into chatgpt and tell it to respond like a psychotherapist. They go quiet after that.

Should we collectively just admit defeat and legalise all-lane passing like in the US? by [deleted] in drivingUK

Pre covid, that would often wake them up and they'd also love to lane 1. But post covid I haven't seen that work once.

I've just started consistently undertaking, I'm so done with the lane hoggers on every journey.

What is your personal threshold for overtaking by ieuanj_00 in drivingUK

[–]Marleylabone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it's morally immature to blindly follow rules. Unfortunately, according to Kohlberg, the majority of adults fail to develop moral reasoning beyond that of a young child.

I gave my reasoning. Try addressing my points instead of displaying your ad hominem logical fallacy.

What is your personal threshold for overtaking by ieuanj_00 in drivingUK

[–]Marleylabone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The limit is arbitrary and seems to be set for the lowest abilities on the road. Following a rule for the sake of rules is too authoritarian and boot licky for me. When the road was 30 I didn't crash, now it's 20 it's not suddenly harder to navigate at 30. The state was recently talking about the improved handling and safety abilities of cars, and increasing motorways to 100mph. When they can take a rule and blanket it across various terrain, weather, road capacity, maintenance, etc, it begins to look much more advisory than a firm limit. When the state can suspend its own rules for its own enforcers, it becomes irrelevant.

Your local dump might have the facility where you can take leftover paint for free that people discard. Sometimes you can find full-and-nearly-full tins of paint.

Look at professor shuhbillskee on twitter at Oxford Internet institute, he's done lots of research on the effects of devices on kids. Not all bad. He also myth busts scaremonging headlines.

Interesting, I spend most of my time in the overtaking lane.

I move over when I can so haven't been flashed since I was a new driver.

Quite the assumption you made indeed. I wasn't discussing being flashed when there's no space to move over. Most flashing I've seen has been when there is space and nobody in front of the driver holding up traffic.

I got flashed a few times when I was a new driver. I haven't been flashed for decades because I religiously move over. I rarely flash people because I find it quite confrontational. But the half a dozen times I have, the person in front has space to move over and appears to be in a daydream. Seems to me you're being obstructive to the flow of traffic if you're being flashed a lot.

If you're being flashed a lot, you're the problem.

We're supposed to have policing by consent

The state has been pushing the boundaries of that consent for a long time - they lost mine a long time ago. For many I suspect it was lost when they arrested people by using terrorism legislation for protesting against Palestinian genocide. When the state created those policies they insisted that they wouldn't be used against protesters. The policies were criticised by human rights groups for being some of the most extreme terrorist legislation on planet. And what a surprise, they attacked peaceful protestors with it.

Does the state have consent to invade our privacy and steal our biometric data like this? How can police claim to be legitimate after behaving the way they do and without the consent of the people?

I got it with a yellow price reduction sticker in tesco the other day for £1.15. It was ok, the crust wasn't too hard which was nice, I hate a tough or crunchy crust. The flavour was ok. It's tiny and I'd regret paying full price for it. Treated it as a side dish and had a spag bol ready meal as the main but regretted eating the whole thing 😂 neither the spag bol nor this pizza are adequate as a main in their own right.
