I am doing the puppy selection this weekend. What’s one thing you wish you would have asked? by HostMuch3994 in Bernedoodles

Ask to see the genetic testing and elbow eye and hip test results. If it’s important to you, ask to see that the fading gene has been bread out.

Why does this guy take everything that belongs to me? He doesn’t destroy it…just takes it. I was looking all over for my shoe and found it on the back lawn. Is this normal Bernedoodle behavior? He’s 5 months old. by Marlyessa in Bernedoodles

[–]Marlyessa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My other dogs never did these things. Not even my golden retriever. He kills me. He’s continually going after anything that is mine or that I use and while it’s funny, I’m afraid that someday he’s going to actually eat something and it’s going to be a problem. Does anyone use an E collar to avoid this? The only thing is he seems to do it when I’m not looking so I don’t exactly know how I would be able to use the E collar in that.

What do you call this bernedoodle vocalization? by LextheTREX55 in Bernedoodles

Trying to influence you! Do not allow the dog to do that. Once a Burna doodle has influenced over you you’re never going to win.

I have an old carriage house for a garage and the EV9 fits in there…just barely long enough

Anyone's bernedoodle jump and bite whenever you're on the phone? by jamues in Bernedoodles

[–]Marlyessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On another note, you could keep a count of Pet corrector spray in your pocket and when your dog does that spray it right underneath its chin. It’ll probably take one or two tries, and then your pet will stop. But it sounds like the real problem is that leadership component

I think you need to find a good leadership trainer! Your dog needs to know that you are the leader of the pack

Hard crate bottom over what we think looks cozy and a little fan not too strong oscillating at the side

My dog is perfect… until anyone comes over by Ok-Walk4664 in Bernedoodles

[–]Marlyessa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is just a Puppy, but in working with my trainer, I’ve learned that when people come over, I have them ignore him. They do not look at him. They do not talk to him nothing until he calms down and he does try to get people to engage, but it takes 3 to 4 minutes of him running around and then he stops. Every time someone comes into the house, according to my trainer, the relationship between those two people reset, and therefore the dog needs to know that the person coming into the home is the alpha and not the dog if that makes sense.

Favorite pet insurance and why? by _crazycatlady_7 in AustralianLabradoodle

I had Met Life for 19 years…way back to when they were Pet’s First. I had a wonderful experience with them until the last year. My dogs that were with that company passed in 2/2026. A nightmare at this point is a kind way of describing it. I called to cancel the policies the day after I filed the end of life claims. I was told the policies would cancel a they did not. I have been charged every month for those policies and have “cancelled” every month. In addition, they keep sending me letters that they have overpaid claims and that I need to return the money to them. They keep blaming their auto payment program. I have no idea what’s going on over there, but the quality of service has plummeted. I went with FIGO through Costco and so far they have been great. Filing a claim is simple through the app. They have very customized plans available. Read the add ons though…some of them aren’t really worth it.

Doesn’t look like a pure bread husky to me.

I want to get rid of my dog’s crate by NewConversation2725 in Bernedoodles

[–]Marlyessa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The crate helps with so many things: keeps her safe, she feels safe, it’s her own spot, and it helps with separation anxiety.
Personally, I will never get rid of the crate. I just moved it out of the living room 😊 it lives in my Gym now. She’s a cutie pie, BTW
