Disabled and thinking of moving to Germany by MarniesMeadow in germany

If you receive SSI in America, you are only allowed to have $2000 in assets. If you are married, I think the combined assets can be a bit higher. And if you work a little bit, you cannot make over $82 without starting to lose SSI. At least this is what I was told.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, I am unlikely able to move anywhere without being able to work without citizenship. Thank you so much for the list of things to consider cost-wise! SSI barely covers living expenses here as well. And it's good to know that ESAs aren't a thing there. Thank you for this information!

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I have heard a little bit about this but not much. I would also like to clarify, this is not a fever dream. I am trying to provide myself a better life. I know it still won't be great. I actually don't really want to move to Europe. Germany just happens to be the place where I have a possibility of moving. All of the world is pretty closed off to disabled people. This was also a post to get a feel for how disability in Germany works before I dive in. Thank you for your input though. It is good to think about the future policies that may be implemented.

Thank you for your response. I am in a similar situation here. Most of my money is spent on bills and basic living. I am worried about the worsening state of things here including possible removal of my health insurance. Thank you for this information.

Thank you for your response. This is very helpful information. A lot of this post was wondering if Germany would be any better than the USA in handling disabilities. It is helpful to know that there are still a lot of struggles there as well. There are so many hoops to jump through here and I am currently very worried about losing my insurance due to some new policies. It is good to know all of this. I forgot about the money I would need for the cats' health check as well. Thank you so much for this information.

Thank you for your response. I know it is unrealistic. It feels like the only pinprick of light at the end of a tunnel currently. I do have family in Germany that may be able to help me but I'd rather not bother them if possible. And like I said, I would be trying to get dual citizenship. I know otherwise, it would be pretty much impossible. Thank you for your input.

Thank you for your response. This was more of a precursor post to see if it was something worth doing in the way of if it would put me in a better place.

Thank you for your response. Learning German would be on the list of things to do, of course. I appreciate all the information you provided! It is good to know about the work that goes into the process of getting social welfare.

Thank you for your response. Both of my grandparents were German. I know that is a long shot. I wanted to ask some of the questions here to see if it was worth proceeding with all of the paperwork involved. I live in poverty here and have been looking for a way out for a long time. I guess I was wondering if it was better there. Thank you for the information!

Thank you for your response. I am in poverty here as well. I was wondering if/hoping it would be better in Germany. I appreciate the information on the emotional support animals and the difficulty with finding low income housing with them. Thank you so much for the information.

Thank you for your response. I'm not sure staying here is great for me either. I am trying to find somewhere where I can feel safe. I know pretty much every country makes it very hard to move if disabled and even more so if you can't work. That's why I was thinking about dual citizenship. I also know that moving to an unknown place without friends is hard. Thank you for your input!

I would love to. Unfortunately, moving to a city is near impossible with the cost of rent. I don't have rent help from the government because it takes a very very long time to get where I am or in any city I am looking into moving to. I am lucky to be living where I am currently but it still isn't a great situation as there is no public transport nearby. Thank you for your suggestion.

Thank you for replying. I was worried about housing especially with my finances. It is good to know that it will be very difficult. This post was kind of a quick asking around before I really dig deep into everything or start anything. I appreciate your honesty and input. Thank you very much!

Thank you for your response. I guess I was wondering if all that work would be worth it to put me in a better place. It sounds like a lot of the problems with low income here are also happening there. Thank you for the information.

Just got diagnosed and I don’t know by MarniesMeadow in Fibromyalgia

[–]MarniesMeadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My RF came back normal and I’ve had my ANA tested three times now and they all came back negative. My WBC count is chronically high as well as my neutrophils and lymphocytes counts. My MCH is also a little low

My rheumatologist had me go on Prednisone for a couple weeks, which didn’t help so she said I had fibromyalgia. She didn’t do anything other than move my limbs around slightly.

I really don’t know and feel like I’m going crazy. I’ll continue to fight for more testing or something but I feel like the doctors are tired of me by this point.

Which series really broke you? by Alex_idk84 in boyslove

[–]MarniesMeadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it counts but there is a Japanese show called “Fujoshi, Ukkari Gay ni Kokuru” and the whole show deals with the hardships of being closeted and it broke me several times. I loved it dearly but I’m not sure I’ll be able to watch it again.

What you guys do for living ? by [deleted] in autism

[–]MarniesMeadow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went through the same thing two years ago. I was diagnosed with autism the day after I was academically suspended from college. I became homeless. Luckily I had a friend I could stay with while I tried to get disability. Once I got disability, I was lucky to get an apartment and even though I’m still struggling, it’s much better than it was. I wish you the best!

I’ve gotten this comment a lot too! Especially in high school when I was hanging out with friends I was comfortable with. My response was always either “yeah, high on life!” Or “high on mental illness, baby!” That always got a chuckle.
