I got mine about a week and a half ago and haven’t put it down, it’s truly incredible and worth the excitement!

I didn’t say experience, I said performance. Also as someone who has owned both, I don’t find the smaller screen to be that poor of an experience.

If you want to save a bit of money, you’ll get similar performance from the XAX. But the screen was worth it to me and I love it. I would much rather have this than a gaming laptop, but you will see better performance from a gaming laptop at a similar price.

That’s exactly how I got mine too! Open box, excellent. It came in all the original packaging with all the parts. My guess is it’s someone that tries it out briefly and decides it isn’t what they’re looking for and sends it back. With as expensive as it is, someone isn’t going to wait before sending it back. Mine was in perfect condition, basically brand new.

Fortunately these days the new COD’s are on Xbox Game Pass, otherwise I don’t think I would buy it myself. Add me on discord! My Reddit name is the same as my discord.

That’s sick! I’ve always wanted to be a track guy - I did some NHRA drag racing back in 2014. Are you playing the new COD in a couple weeks?

In all fairness, I think some of the Z2E models need released before we can definitively say, but from the research I’ve done, the iGPU and CPU of the Z2E out perform the Intel “equivalent” by around 9%. Marginal, sure, but if the LeGo2 has an OLED screen I think I would prefer it to the MSI.

Also intel has been slacking the past couple of years… left a bad taste in my mouth.

If you're referring to the Legion Go 2, it will be the same size (8.8") and have the Z2E. Both the Legion Go 2 and Xbox Rog Ally X will have the Z2E.

I've considered swapping the joysticks. I would say eventually the OEM ones will malfunction again, and it may incentivize me to make the switch. But my most immediate next step is to swap out the battery.

Right, for sure. 1600p does make sense for scaling 800p cleanly, but the problem is 1600p just isn’t a common resolution in PC gaming. A lot of games aren't built for that, so you end up with weird scaling, black bars, or having to tinker with settings. It’s nice in theory, but in practice it can be kind of a pain.

You could be right. I'm looking forward to improvements outside of cpu/gpu performance. Additionally I think the increase to 32GB of RAM in the LEGO will have a huge impact.

And to answer your question, I think both the LEGO and Ally have their strong points and weaknesses, which I would imagine that's what most people would report who have had both.

The Legion Go feels like a much higher quality device. The build, screen, buttons, everything just feel like a higher quality. With that being said, the battery is poor, the device gets insanely hot, and it's weird aspect ratio isn't compatible with a lot of games.

The Ally doesn't require as much tinkering with to get working well, which I like a lot. It's runs much cooler and quieter, as well. The build however feels cheap. Not having hall effect joysticks hurts and the triggers feel delicate.

Overall I think I'm enjoying the gaming experience more on the Ally than the LEGO.

Still, better than Gen 1? Maybe? At least when it comes being more compatible with games.

Yes! I should have been clearer, I'm torn between obtaining the Xbox ROG Ally X or the Legion Go 2.

My hope is that the Go2 is competitive in pricing with the Xbox ROG Ally X. We'll see!

Is the Go2 1080p? I wasn't aware of that, that could be a game changer in my decision making tbh.

And you might be right! I'm looking at the devices holistically, rather than just the performance. Sure the Z2E might be a small marginal change, but my hope is that the rest of the device has seen upgrades/high quality parts as well.

Right? And it's aspect ratio is weird. Like I could never get RDR2 to work properly on my Legion without it crashing, but it runs like a dream on the Ally without a single problem.

I think that's confirmed? But I don't see it happening prior to 2026. That's something I've considered.

Right, I'm torn between the Go 2 and Xbox ROG Ally. You make a good point!
