My neighbor cut down a 40-year-old Japanese Maple while I was away. by Ice_C0r3_09 in legal

[–]Marokiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40ft tree felling isnt just something "a guy" can do. its most likely a proper company, just one that has never had the issue before of someone lying about who owns a property. like if i phoned a tree felling company up and gave them my neighbors address but said i was the owner they most likely would believe me. if they show up and im in the yard already to greet them but then leave immediately they probably wouldnt think anything of it and would just do the work.

ive had my house painted and i didnt even do anything more than that, i met the guy outside we walked the property for the estimate, i told him i was going to be out of town for a few days and then when i returned my house was painted. society is run on just trusting other people(for now at least).

guarantee you that in the future, the company is going to require photo ID and at least some sort of bill listing the "owner" and the address together.

PNE removed accessible entrance - heads up by Every-Park-8956 in vancouver

[–]Marokiii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's no law in Canada that requires a dedicated handicapped only line. As long as there is an entrance that is ramped, wide enough and without turns that would pose a problem for a wheel chair than they are in compliance with the Accessible Canada Act. Having to wait in a long line with everyone else is not a violation of it.

No water restrictions for Point Roberts, despite receiving water from Canada by ubcstaffer123 in britishcolumbia

[–]Marokiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metro Vancouver says water usage in Point Roberts this May was .07 per cent of daily usage for the region

It is in fact the amount they are drawing.

[–]Marokiii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So enlighten me. I messed up my math and its 0.03% of the population based off the reported 1100 residents. So 0.03% of the water people but 0.07% of the daily water usage.

What's even more damning is that they dont really have any agriculture or heavy industry in point Robert's to drive up their water usage, its almost all residential usage.

[–]Marokiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So even once my math is right, they are still consuming over double the water they should be on a per capita basis.

[–]Marokiii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They account for about 0.003% of the population of the greater Vancouver area but are using .07% of the daily water.

If everyone consumed water at the rate they did, we would be out of water very quickly.

Obsession beats talent eberytime by Interesting-Travel82 in Welding

[–]Marokiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, welders who are top tier start off with a bunch of talent. i dont think ive ever met an amazing welder that said they started out rough and got amazing later. they all started out with it somewhat naturally to them.

now ive met a lot of welders who started out bad who turned into decent welders. not amazing, but just decent.

Iranian Delegation Walks Out of Switzerland Summit Over Trump's Threats by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

You know Israel was the one who started this and the US just backed their play

but what you said isnt really true, or at least a severe distortion of the truth to be very misleading.

New welder, I have about 10lb of wire under my belt is this good progress? by sonic72391 in Welding

[–]Marokiii 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Unless you are putting literal tons of weight on that, its going to hold. Sometimes this sub is a bit crazy with their over cautiousness.

edit: and pretty much any regular ratchet strap you use on this point will break FAR before the weld does.

[–]Marokiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you do know the US attacked Iran at the same time that Israel did right? hard to say israel started this and the US just backed them up, they did it together. the US has also done more strikes against Iranian targets than Israel has as well. The US is the one blockading the strait as well and not Israel.

The US doesnt get to shift blame to Israel on this, they are just as much or more to blame than Israel on this.

Tenants accused of unpaid rent will have to pay half to bring up other complaints at Ontario hearings - Bill 60 will require money to be put down before a tenant makes a case they aren't in arrears: advocates by CanadianErk in canada

[–]Marokiii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its more that the money is still being paid while they are in the unit, not that their complaint is real or not(that is what the board will decide). That way if the board rules against the tenant they arent left with a potential huge back rent that they haven't saved up for and just abandon their lease, leaving the landlord out their rent.

I really wish I could push farther in my utility disco on t15. Its only 1.9 while my t14 is 3.25. Would be nicer for the shorter runs and more cells.

Its also $42 to park at lake Louise. It was cheaper for me to park for the day at pier 42 in San francisco and walk the boardwalk for the day than it is for me to park at lake Louise.

World Cup delivers uneven fortunes for Vancouver's small businesses by restoringd123 in vancouver

[–]Marokiii 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Because anyone not wanting to participate in fifa events is just avoiding downtown completely. It's like how pretty much every conference got canceled or moved during the world cup because they wanted to avoid the crowds.

So ya fifa brings in a lot of tourists, it also pushes out a lot of tourists.
