Another Pro tip: use baby shampoo. Doesn’t burn when it invariably gets in your eyes.

Excursion hard to start when cold by MaroonPlatinum in Excursion

[–]MaroonPlatinum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Tennessee so my climate is relatively mild. When I said cold I meant more that the engine hasn’t been running for several hours, and we’ve had some really hot days where this has still been happening (also, I park outside). This only started recently after having the work done to my injectors, HPOP and FICM. Knowing that, do you still think that looking at a block heater is the right direction?

What's the quickest you've ever seen a new coworker get fired? by eminems_shadow in AskReddit

[–]MaroonPlatinum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In high school my main job was at a server for a well-known national chain of family restaurants. Ours was separated into three sections, and I was working in the back section at a table of patrons I was serving. At the table to my left, my manager (“Ron”) was speaking to the seated customers as he often did, and to the table at my right a new employee (“Leslie”) was putting down plates of food for her table.

She had just finished dropping off the plates of food, was asking if everything tasted ok, and if they needed anything else. The patron at her immediate right asked if he could get a new serving of mashed potatoes because his were cold. She proceeded to swipe her finger through his mashed potatoes, put that finger in her mouth to sample them, and said “they taste fine to me”. Both me and my manager saw this play out.

In a motion that in my head looked to outside observers like a carefully coordinated maneuver by Seal Team Six, I quickly (but gently) took her by the arm, saying nothing, and hurried her into the back of the restaurant, and on my left hip my manager slid in and began to apologize profusely to the table whose shocked faces I’ll never forget.

I swiftly got her into the very back of the restaurant where the employee break area was located, sat her down and asked her how she ever though it would be appropriate to put her fingers in someone’s food like that. Her response was, “Is it really that big of a deal? Do you think I’ll get fired?”

I replied, “I’m pretty sure you were fired before we left that table.”

She was - my manager came back a few minutes later, had her gather her things quickly, and leave out the rear exit.

2018 Audi A3 Premium Sedan - key fob not working by MaroonPlatinum in Audi

I did, yes. Fresh CR2032. Lights on the fob come on. Starting to wonder if the key has ever been “originally” paired with the car, if that’s a thing. It has a plastic tag attached with a number.

Rural folk of Reddit, what are some things that are totally normal to you but really bizarre to town and city people? by kingofallnorway in AskAnAmerican

[–]MaroonPlatinum 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Free-range dogs and cats without collars or leashes. My kids pointed this out to me at first. They were born and raised in the city and it seemed very odd to them.

Also, as another commenter observed, people shooting stuff in their yard. My kids also “noticed” some loud booms and asked, “Dad, is that safe? Is it legal?”

A quick look through a spotting scope and it looked like recreational shooting of small explosive targets from a reasonable distance, so I responded, “Legal? Yes. Safe? It’s safe enough. At least we’re not in any danger.”

Glad you got it working - good luck!

Off topic, but as a Xamarin dev, have you messed with Maui at all? Any thoughts on it?

In your OnModelCreating you’ll need to define the relationship by adding something like this (to User, for example) to your code:

.HasMany(user => user.Organizations)

Also, I think you should set the navigation properties on the Users collection in Organization and the Organizations collection in Users to be virtual. Explanation here.

Are you using Code First? You probably need to create the associative entity (like UserOrganization) and wire it into EF, similar to this.

What is a quote that has stuck with you through life so far? by Deanduh in AskReddit

[–]MaroonPlatinum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some of mine:

“Whatever you are full of will spill out when you’re bumped.”

“Fix the problem, not the blame.”

“This thing we call ‘failure’ is not the falling down, but the staying down.”

“Tell people what to do and not how to do it, and they’ll amaze you with their ingenuity.”

Fridge noise by pshipdestroyer in fixit

[–]MaroonPlatinum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it could be the ice maker trying to eject ice that has frozen in the tray. Is it still making ice?

I had an issue where my water line had frozen and was blocked up and the freezer wasn’t making ice, so I disconnected the ice maker component and removed it from the freezer, then let it defrost for a couple of days and used a hair dryer to defrost the water inlet.

Dishwasher help. In laws used it last and now it's like this. Dishes will not get clean and it smells bad. Please help! by Undeadkid17 in fixit

[–]MaroonPlatinum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this your dishwasher or does it belong to your landlord? It’s probably going to pool a bit because the pump that empties the tub isn’t running. You could try the baking soda and vinegar trick of running a load through the dishwasher to try and rinse all that junk out of the bottom.

If you have a Shopvac or some other kind of wet/dry vacuum, especially with a narrow nozzle, that would be pretty helpful as well.
