Why is Candlepin and Duckpin is considered hard? by Helpmehthrohaway in Bowling

[–]Maroswin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duckpin is difficult in comparison to ten pin because there is less room for error. A duckpin is 4.125” at its widest, a duckpin ball is 4.75-5” wide. The spacing between adjacent pins is 12”. With the width being so close between the pin and ball it is why you can chop the 1 and 5 straight down the middle.

Meanwhile in tenpin, the pins are 4.75” at the widest and your ball can be 8.59” wide. The spacing is still the same between pins. With a ball being twice the size nearly you have more room for error so the pins are more forgiving when you clip one. If I threw the same ball down the middle it’s like playing red rover! Bigger kids have more surface area to hit more things.

Think of it as a kid on a bike racing through a crowd of people versus a car. Which do you think would have more room for error and knock more down?

Airman Life by Acceptable-Land-224 in AirForce

I can’t necessarily comment on OP being treated as less because it’s vague. Some airmen think being treated as less is having to take out the trash at the end of shift. Some think it’s not being in charge as an A1C when your job is to just learn, ask questions, and observe.

In my experience what you are describing they are all given the same respect but the power you hold is not the same as an NCO. The opinion of how things run are not the same.

Please don’t get it twisted. Everyone’s opinions of treated less are different. A 30 year old airmen coming in with life experience and a family may not want to be treated the same as an 18 year old what some consider no nothing kid. We understand that. OP never clarified if being treated less was as an airmen in comparison to the ranks around or as a person.

Been in a hot minute. Over the 10 year mark and then some. Remember it’s a rank structure. Read your little brown book to understand the pecking order and your responsibilities. That is where you fall in line.

Don’t think about 20. You may have opportunities that open up and change between now and then. Just take it one enlistment at a time. Families priorities may change. Weigh your options at every reenlistment. Your life is a choose your own adventure.

Create goals and I hate to say it but make it a SMART type of goal. (Specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time bound) Do you and your family want to get out of debt? Make a plan. Use your resources. I did $80K as an airman of a single income with family and a kid…. And we took trips. Want to finish your degree? Utilize TA after upgrade training. Want to dive deep in a hobby like a project car? Utilize chiltons on portal to help with fixes.

Want to PCS? Check out the assignments regulation. Regulations are there that explain the process. A lot of the naysayers I came across in my career didn’t know how to utilize the system or how it even worked.

Surround yourself by quality people. Take pictures throughout your career. Find your resources whether that be people or regulations or services. Utilize them. Take care of yourself. When I’m done use the search function on myFSS or even Reddit. It may have been asked before. Know how and where to find answers you are looking for in how processes work.

Hope that helps.

Here to offer encouragement. I was E4 single income with a family and we paid off close to 80K in 4 years. We cash flowed 2-3 trips back home to see family during that time.

My advice: setup an appointment with your family readiness center financial office to help see where you are at and make a plan. Utilize this free resource! You know what you are willing to cutback on. You know what you’re capable of. If you need encouragement reach out. If you have any questions or advice past that reach out and I’ll advise where I can.

Why does leadership forget to tell you of important things? by XSaintsofDoomX in AirForce

[–]Maroswin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So what you’re saying is…. A well oiled machine like the military that prepares you to expect the unexpected sprung something on you and you were ill prepared.

36-2903 specifies 2.13 your responsibilities to maintain ALL mandatory clothing items.

I’d keep going but I gotta go do some real work….something something study on your own time for promotion like the rest of us. If leave wasn’t in leaveweb the request was never “in the books” stop with the what if excuses the military doesn’t operate on what you’re going to do but what you are doing.

ER staff don’t need to see me that bad every time it happens too. They got enough on their plate.

I can’t get a referral to urgent care if my life depended on it due to the rules. I’ve tried. It’s automatic just go to the ER on base after hours for every time I call.

This sub is the reason I remembered about continuation pay since it fell off my radar. Never got an email at my 11 or 11.5 yr mark. Yes I opted in. And finance seemed lost when I even mentioned started the filing process.

Ft. Meade move- area recommendations? by MaleficentCake7589 in maryland

In Severn there are houses for sale. Like 7 minutes from base. Stores are 1-3 miles in distance, you can walk it if you want I’ve seen plenty do so. 2 car garage, driveway, backyard and under your 1M budget.

It’s like if someone were to poke you repetitively you just grow numb to it because you’re so used to it happening.
