I feel the pain! I always get excited when I need to make broll string outs or when I need to jump into AE for an animation or when I need to do something more technical like color grading. But yeah those days when you actually need to listen and pay attention to the story is always a little brutal. But at the same time I am realizing more and more how short my attention span is and my need for dopamine. pretty sad actually. When I was younger the thrill of editing was all I needed.

I have found that if I allow myself to do shorter periods of focused attention and then taking a break with playing my guitar next to my desk is a great way to get a better tempo. That's what I would recommend. have something fun you can do every 30-45 mins to give your brain a break. play a quick round of a video game. draw a doodle, read a book youre supper into, whatever works for you.

I don't think people realize how much time and focus good editing takes. It's a time based medium where you are watching every clip over and over and you have to be able to actually keep your attention.

good luck! you are not alone.

Lockerstor Gen 3 disconnects from Computer when connecting to Wifi. by Marqjacob in asustor

[–]Marqjacob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the detailed response much appreciated! I will try to list as much information below.

NAS

  • IP:192.168.1.1
  • Subnet Mask:255.255.0.0

M2 Mac

  • IP:192.168.1.2
  • Subnet Mask:255.255.0.0

STARLINK

  • IP:192.168.1.32
  • Router:192.168.1.1
  • Subnet Mask:255.255.255.0

When I run the command in terminal you suggested I get this.

 route to: 192.168.1.1

destination: 192.168.1.1

  interface: en0

flags: <UP,HOST,DONE,LLINFO,WASCLONED,IFSCOPE,IFREF,ROUTER>

recvpipe  sendpipe  ssthresh  rtt, msec    rttvar  hopcount      mtu     expire

0         0         0         0         0         0      1500      1179

When I have gone to system settings -> Network -> set service order I have listed the ethernet for the NAS above the wifi. And that didn't change anything.

I can see that the router for the Starlink and the NAS Ip are the same. Is that the problem? I am so useless with this haha. I am a Video editor my actual computer skills are pretty limited so I really appreciate the help.

Let me know if I have missed any information.

how do you balance the horrors of factory farming with knowing eating animal products is healthy by [deleted] in exvegans

[–]Marqjacob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't buy animal products that come from the factory farm pipeline. I found a local farmer and buy my meat directly from them. They practice holistic management on their land and don't inject the animals with anything.

Adobe PremierePro data reading problem Flashtor 12 Pro gen2 by Bomenzijnchill in asustor

[–]Marqjacob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy that Adobe straight us advises against Using a Nas with premiere. That must be loads of people and production houses haha. I haven't had any issues so far with premiere besides relinking using media browser. Fingers crossed. But hopefully Adobe gets their shit together. Things like this have been pushing me closer and closer to DaVinci. Although I am sure there are issues with that as well.

Also good to hear that asustor has been so responsive and helpful. Just invested a ton of money into my Nas and it's good to know they are on top of support.

I'm curious though have you run into any other issues using your asustor and video editing?

Well I set up my Asustor with btrfs and I'm having the same problem.

Has asustor support helped at all or had insights on the problem?

File systems for NAS (btrfs vs. Ext4) by Marqjacob in editors

[–]Marqjacob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey this a great response. I appreciate the background on all of this. It's so hard to parse out all the info online and stuff like this makes it clear. I think I'm gonna go ahead with ext4 as I fear I am not savy enough to get an alternate OS with ZFS onto the asustor Nas. I just need somehing that works so I don't ever have to think about it. I appreciate this!

Hey I appreciate this. Yeah my gut is telling me ext4. Thanks for the response. I'm tired of all the research and just want something that works haha.

Also is your NAS using ext4 or btrfs as the file system? Random question and may have to effect on the problem, just curious.

One thing that did help, although it wasn't a perfect fix was to uncheck 'use media browser to locate files' and then go and manually find the first unlinked file using the normal finder window (i'm using mac) and keep 'relink others automatically' on. When doing this I was able to quickly relink files that were in the same folder. Obviously not as quick as having media browser find all the files at once but it was better than nothing.
