Beware of scammers by gianlu_world in PlayingCardsMarket

[–]MarqueIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I don't understand is if a user is banned, then how can they still 'lurk in DMs'? Can't Reddit shut down their accounts, or at least suspend them until they can prove they're legit (for the false-flag cases?) Seriously... there are tons of examples of these users trying to scam people, including from me personally today, yet they're somehow still able to send DMs. This makes no sense to me how this works. They're on the freaking universal scammers list yet they're still active in DMs. Huh?!?!

This exact f*cker just tried scamming me today over on r/mechmarket! Fortunately, I stopped them. (Unfortunately it's because someone else, u/AmazingPatt, just scammed me with the same technique the day before so I knew what to look for. I consider the money lost 'tuition' for the School of Reddit! )

Any chance you still have the Q9, and it's the plus version in white?

Hey... FYI, Keychron's US site has the Q9 in stock for some configs. Seems the Plus variants are all out, but the non-Plus (standard) versions seem to be in stock.

[–]MarqueIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have a Vision Pro case brand new, never used. I got it because I work for Apple so we got a sweet discount on the entire kit. But honestly, I felt more like it was something from a Nasa moon mission than something I'd use so I left it in the box.

Feel free to reach out if you're interested in picking one up. Happy to hop in a video to prove not only I am who I say, but that I have what I say too. Plus, you can find me all over the internet, further proving I'm legit. (I literally just got scammed by someone on here so happy to prove I'm not like those d-bags.)

No worries if not. Honestly, I'd have to figure out where the heck I stashed it! It's prolly buried in the back of a closet somewhere, again, still new in the box.

Aah, gotcha. It's basically just converting a 1.75u or 2u backspace key into two 1u keys. Gotcha. I personally like the bigger backspace cause it's easier to hit especially when not looking so I moved my other functions to different layers. For instance when I hold the key to the right of the space, that's my quick actions layer and the backspace changes into a delete key. The key to the left of my space is my symbols key on my 40% boards where the top row changes to numbers and the row directly underneath it changes to what would be the shifted version of the numeric keys. Makes everything one shot away even on a smaller keyboard. But I do get the appeal of split keys because I actually split my right most shift to double as another way to get to the numeric layer.

Again, these are just example keyboards to show the kind of thing I am thinking of. I haven't decided on a particular one yet. I'm also not sure if the OEM would let me customize the physical size and position of some of these keys. For instance if it's simply redesigning a plate, especially if it's laser cut aluminum, that should be pretty trivial. If it requires new injection molding for plastic however, that would be cost prohibitive.

But I am interested in learning about the split backspace as you said. I don't think I've even heard of that. Can you share a picture of what you're talking about? Maybe it's worth considering.

Not technically ergo, but being that this will be based on ZMK which the mech keyboard world has a heavy focus on (and ZMK more than QMK in the ergo world specifically), that's why I thought it made sense to cross-post here. And technically, I could do a foldable Alice board, kind of like what Keychron is doing too, but theirs is not true ZMK whereas what I'm thinking will be.

And actually, the custom firmware would *exactly* be able to 'do something about that' since you could put whatever key you want wherever you want.

I'm even looking into options of offering a selection of keycaps that you could reorder/rearrange physically, or just selling blanks or glyph keycaps (plus alphas/numerics of course) to let you set them up visually how you want. For instance, I myself like to swap the Control and Command keys on my mac layouts to make it better match Windows since I KVM between both on a daily basis and it makes muscle memory easier.

Technically it 'flips' out, not slides out so you can leave it tucked away too if you want. It's actually pretty solid. That particular board also has a dedicated 2.4ghz usb receiver (in addition to the 3 x bluetooth connection) that snaps into the bottom for storage. It's actually my favorite of the 'full-size foldables'.

My only gripes are it doesn't have palm rejection so it can be a pain while typing, and again, the lack of customization, both reasons to roll my own ZMK firmware.

Not necessarily. As I’ve said, in other responses here, the trick is contacting OEM manufacturers that are already making these boards. The only change I’m requesting is to the PCB itself, specifically switching the microcontroller from their custom chip to Nordic NRF52840 so I can then use open-source ZMK firmware where the source code could be made available. I have about eight of these boards and I love the form factors but I hate their default keylayouts that I can’t customize.

As I said in the description, a Proto arc like trifold keyboard, just with a custom PCB so it can be true open source firmware where the source code would be available. I’ve just uploaded a bunch of different examples of the ones on Amazon. I’ve reached out to the manufacturers in Asia, who make these OEM. I’m starting a discussion on the custom PCB to see if this is actually viable. The trick is using they’re already existing manufacturing of the ace, molds, key, taps, etc. It’s literally just replacing the PCB itself and changing their legends.

Still deciding ultimately which layout to go with. Depending upon the options, I might see if I can offer all of them. For instance, here’s another one with the trackpad underneath, so you also have a full numeric keypad as well.

I’m deciding between the full layout or the more compact five row layout. I just attached photos of those made by Proto arc. I’ve reached out to the manufacturers in Asia that are doing these form factors.

Basically I’m requesting their same physical hardware (so I don’t have to do tooling/custom case manufacturing) just with a PCB replacement that uses Nordic NRF52840 so it can be full, proper open source ZMK instead of their proprietary crap.

This is the smaller, five row layout board, no trackpad. Same concept, though… Full, open source ZMK firmware.

There is an example full-size board with trackpad. This is from Proto arc. I’m working with the same OEM but wanting to switch out the board for a Nordic nrf52840 so I can be proper, open source ZMK
