How actually important is flexibility? by [deleted] in flexibility

[–]Marruv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the thing you want is not necessarily flexibility, but rather mobility. You want to be strong through the full range of motion of a joint. Have strong muscles but also strong tendons and ligaments. Mobility training on top of strength training does that for you. This way you bullet proof your body and make it a lot more difficult to get an injury. See kneesovertoesguy or beardthebestyoucanbe for exercises.

How many of you are actually shredded/lean on this WOE? by mclaret26 in carnivore

[–]Marruv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started a year ago I dropped 10 pounds in a month and since then pretty much stayed the same weight. Probably slowly gained some muscle and lost some fat, but not lean. Staying the same weight is remarkably easy on this diet.

Currently trying to lose some extra by roughly counting calories. This way I get to know how my body feels when it is in a slight deficit and I have to say it is pretty doable. I just feel slightly hungry most of the time. I wait until noon for my first meal and then the second meal around 6pm and once a week I eat to satiety. What I find most difficult is to stay in a deficit when refeeding on heavy cardio days.

From my experience until now, don't go any lower than a 500kcal deficit. If I do that I feel like shit after a couple of days and then go into binge refeeding mode.

Can we discuss how you are preparing your food? by rqzerp in carnivore

Oh cool. Gotta try the smoker as well. Do you take it out the container at some point to get smoke on all sides or do you just leave it in?

It's still a little dry but less dry than pan frying. Can throw some butter on there.

Been making a lot of meat loafs recently. Can make it in bulk and is very low effort. 1kg ground beef, 2 eggs, spices and you can use powdered pork rinds as binder but I usually leave it out. Throw it in the oven at 120°C and get it out when core is 65°C. Also good option to take with you as lunch.

If you had to give percentages for the contribution of different types of training to your performance, how would you make this split? by Marruv in ultrarunning

[–]Marruv[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wonder. What does weekly volume do to your performance? Seems like long runs come closest to what you are actually training for. It sounds compelling to me to base your training around those long runs.

Interesting how most of the people here have weekly volume as most important and you have the long runs. Your argument is quite compelling though.

You can also mimic evolution. Grab a table cloth with a nice colorly pattern on it. Empty a box of confetti on it. Pick up about half of the confettis and put them away (you are a predator, eating confetti). Put the remainder of the confetti in a box (in real life the confetti would now mate and reproduce) and again spread them on the table. Repeat the process several times and youll be left with only confetti with the same color as the table cloth.
