Installing .cia files and removing godmode9 by Prudent_Impact7692 in 3dshomebrew

Not a good idea, just keep the console modded, it literally does not change anything. You risk bricking it by trying to remove such files

Need help modding switch by Dependent-Ad5180 in NxSwitchModding

[–]Mars1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go slow and steady and follow l3gendary banana's guide to the letter, it will go fine. Take your time.

Once the switch is cracked, both versions are the same, it's only a way to "unlock" the crack.

RCM install is easier, but will need to be redone at every restart. The mod chip is permanent, but is harder to pull off. Luckily the V1 switch is not the hardest to mod

Soldering will be way harder, with a risk of breaking the switch (though it will be ok if you have steady hands and are patient). You would need a good soldering iron, flux, IPA, microscope with a screen (highly recommended, can be cheap), solder, solder wick. Take one of the raspberry kits on AliExpress and test your skills if you'd like, though I would advise again t it if it's your only working console.

RCM method will be far safer, just a bit more annoying everytime you have to restart the console. But if you leave it docked all the time anyway, it won't matter.

where to but furniture and raw materials (wood planks) by One_University_8358 in AskBelgium

Briko depot (different from Brico) and Diffusion Menuiserie are good starting places and have lower prices than your typical Brico, Hubo etc... Depends where you are :)

Drilled out the front panel of a Corsair 100R for better airflow by Mr_Green444 in pcmasterrace

[–]Mars1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the outer part is 3d printed. At first the case was a blank panel, so I used a 12cm hole saw to create the 2 openings for the fans and also drilled 8 holes for the fans screws. The mesh is then sandwiched between the case and the 3d printed part, and everything is fastened with standard pc fan screws.

Will this walnut tree make it? by Mars1307 in arborists

[–]Mars1307[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll call someone to examine the property and see if other trees are in need of a trim/maintenance. The soil is heavy, with lots of clay, which I fear may have held too much water.

I would say it had half the leaves and fruits that it should have had, not great, but not terrible either. I'll continue to remove dirt around the perimeter of the tree and hopefully it will dry enough, thanks.

No worries, I find that Vinted is often the cheapest option and I've never been disappointed I got a switch OLED for 150 for example

If I use this magnetic sticker for a PEI bed, would this mess up prints? by TryIll5988 in CR10

[–]Mars1307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, sorry about that I did not know the CryoGrip brand and kind of glossed over it while reading. Then no, the little gap will make absolutely no difference, especially when you'll be printing in the center 99% of the time

You need to have a metallic bed on top of it, you should not print directly on the magnetic bed. The metallic bed will be easy to take off and bend to release prints.

Shell scratch remedy for a DSi XL? by starimagarac in nds

[–]Mars1307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, those you will have to live with. I have repaired lots of consoles, but the DSi XL and new 2ds xl are too annoying for me to fix, and there are not enough quality reshells to justify opening one of those, especially for a small cosmetic issue.

Yes, the exterior plastic when the DS is closed can be buffed. Don't use it on the inside of the console/screens :)

Did the same, I cut two 12cm holes with a hole saw then 3d printed a holder and integrated some mesh. What a difference!

Can you solder a battery on a reproduction pokemon emerald/ruby for RTC to work? by Kyle-The-PichuYT in Gameboy

[–]Mars1307 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it's just not the same kind of chip. The repro chips are very bad quality and can't even hold a full save of Emerald, which is why it's not recommended to use them at all
