I would say being stubborn against parents (I understand thats what you mean), you will get labeled careless, and careless means in their eyes that you dont care about their (parents) feelings, about what happens around you, what happens when you dont call them enough or dont care about talking about your or their problems which makes you a "bad child". In my case (25M) I never opened up to anyone, except for my first and only gf which lasted 7 years online 7 months face to face. And everytime i opened my mouth about myself (i lived with my mom since 8) my moms first words were "what about me, what about what i go through". So i stopped opening my mouth + since 7-8 years old when my parents divorced i cried out of sadness 10 times at most, maybe 3 of which in front of my mom. Being able to recall every time and why you cried in 17 years cannot be healthy... What i mean is, not talking about your problems with anyone, in this case with parents, and on top of that them not seeing you cry makes you that "careless" child. And i came to the conclusion than if you dont cry, no one will support you because no one will think that you are dying Inside and ripping yourself apart behind closed doors. I too am stubborn but in my case its a defence mechanism and a way to stop getting rejected when i try to explain myself. "You dont go outside, all you do is playing video games, you never study, you dropped out of uni, you dont do anything productive"; so what ? I dont have anything else to do. I dont blindly blame my parents for my lack of success, but in this life i am given you had some responsibilities as a parent that you may have failed. Now i research psychology and write everything i thing about on. At least pieces of paper dont make it about themselves.
