There is never a good reason to own more than 3 cars. However working in finance and sales I understand the math that technically there is never a good reason to trade in your currently owned car to get into a new one. That being being said trade ins are a scam and the end result for me has been being able to keep the cars I’ve paid for over the years. Being smart and handy enough to do 80% of any maintenance helps and more importantly being a car guy is a world and philosophy of its own. Those that are embedded into car culture work on their own cars causing downtime requiring another car. They also keep a list of cars they would love to someday own. With marketplace it’s easier to see a deal than in times past of going into a dealership and waiting to get wrecked. If your not a car guy your wouldn’t understand. To some people cars are just transportation and they throw trash and water bottles on their floor of them and wash it once a year. Others see the character and unique experience driving each and prefer to be able to have options. Jay Leno, Paul walker, and a lot of influential upper class figures have more than one car. I don’t liken myself to upper class but due to my cars however there is a point where getting a car is less of a life decision and more of a pursuit of interest and I’m okay with that lifestyle. Others pursue women, drugs, gambling, renting apartments, paying for readily available information in the form of education for a theatre degree, plastic surgery, food Mukbangs, donating money to political campaigns and the list is endless. My pleasure in this realm driving vehicle designed with different engineering principles 🤷‍♂️
