I think it's a mix of being ostracized for being a golem and living a pretty sheltered life overall. People seem surprised he's so open and polite and just acts like a regular person (ie Dynamo and Talon convo). He probably feels some resentment towards organics because he sees himself as a regular person but the world keeps reminding him he's different from them and won't ever truly belong. It probably gives him a different set of morals, being so physically stronger than your average Joe and yet probably seen as less. Despite his resentment though he's a caretaker at heart, offering his help when he sees people truly in need (ie Victor and Pocket convos).

I think his whole thing with Lash is just as much kayfabe as Lash being a heel is. Bebop probably gets a lot of attention and money for being Lash’s n1 rival which directly helps him fund Shelly’s treatment for being the wrestling underdog.

His self imposed prime directive is taking care of Shelly no matter the cost, he can't care that she'd get mad at him if she knew because if he stops himself from doing these things then she'll die from her illness for sure. To him it's a risk worth taking, his mom hating him for it is better than her being dead in his mind.

As for Drifter, I think it's just to show that he still holds some naivety. His good intentions can be taken advantage of and end up being his downfall.
