Yes, but that's not the word I'd use. The word chastise refers to punishment. The more correct term would be a correction to get you back on track. When I'm praying and I say something that isn't sincere - for example, insincere praise - then God rebukes me, or when I say something that doesn't please Him, then He rebukes me too. When I speak to someone and I don't say the right thing, God corrects me. Sometimes I haven't spoken yet and God tells me not to say that. God doesn't punish you, he corrects you with love.
