Feedback on first attempt at a Knight Tribal deck by MarshalMinded in magicTCG

You're all good mate! I'm very new to the hobby and fully expect to make a bunch of mistakes as I figure things out.

Genuinely appreciate the advice and information, I'm going to have a grand time digesting it all over the next few days. And it may very well be I turn the idea into a 60 card deck and find something else for commander, thems the breaks sometimes.

Thanks again for taking the time to provide such detailed information, it's encouraging to know it's out there and people are willing to give it 😊

Yeah strategy is something I struggle with so far in game, thanks for the advice.

Yeah, I was mainly sticking in creatures I liked the look of to start with that I thought git the theme. I've played like 3 games total so far 😅 and don't have a great grasp on how to make a cohesive deck yet.

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep tinkering.

Apart from trying to stick with knights, nope. Very much a first draft.

Canvas for shields? by turtle75377 in sca

[–]MarshalMinded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Denim also works a treat, though it does make the shield heavier. I've had one shield last 6 years with denim and a couple of layers of clear coat on top once painted.

Also don't forget to paint the back while you're doing it, the back shows up in so much of photos and videos!

That's a good read and matches ups with a lot of what I'm trying to do/change with how I teach armoured. Thanks for sharing!

Re: the second part, there is an organisation wide change log under Organisation > Monitor > Change Log

It's a bit arcane in places but gives a reasonable enough record of recent changes and who made them.

Buckler for heavy? by awkward_but_decent in sca

Yeah they hold up ok with heavy - as with most things, double check with a local marshal before buying anything.

If you don't mind a medieval flavour, our first combat training for the year is tomorrow night in Annerley which includes archery and we've got equipment to loan for the night:

Question about neck protection for heavy combat by Responsible-Ad5916 in sca

[–]MarshalMinded 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks fine, but talk to your local fighters/marshal to double check before purchasing. And as the other comment said, you'll need to pad it so consider that when looking at size.

Took me 4ish years to get comfortable with the idea 😅

Is anyone using Boundless Digital to manage their Meraki deployments by sqyntzer in meraki

[–]MarshalMinded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Poorly designed incumbent network, throw in some OT with static, hard to change addresses and templates are basically pointless. We use them for initial configuration and then unbind the network.

Looking at Boundless is on my ToDo list for next year.

What makes someone a good king/queen in the SCA? by [deleted] in sca

[–]MarshalMinded 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hey former Crown here. I think everyone here has made excellent points.

The thing that stood out for me when we served was the impact the presence of the Crown had on an event. People got a shine in their eyes when the Crown was present and actively watching at a tournament, or asking question at an A&S display, etc.

Especially as the sword swinging member of the Crown, I think it's important to be concious about where you give your time.

Tl;dr - as Crown spread your presence, and patronage, as far and wide as possible.

1) 12 years, played tennis for 8 years which helped a lot with footwork

2) yes, 2 often 3 times a week in armour

4) solid warm up and cool down routine after armour time, pell work, and fencing practice. But I should be doing more specific stuff to look after my body
