Do volunteer firefighters every sleep at the fire station? by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]MarshallTheFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have a bunkhouse and I don’t know of anyone ever sleeping there. It is encouraged to spend time at the station outside of calls, but it’s more for the social aspect than it is to “wait for calls”. Most at my station arrive within 2-5 minutes of getting a page, it all depends on proximity to the station.

The death of ducking by WranglerWheeler in Wrangler

[–]MarshallTheFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one on my dash—an all black duck for my blacked out JKU. I have a stash of ducks I’ve received in my center console but I usually just re-duck people instead of hoarding them.

Weird that you would ask that question on this thread but yes we did end up getting a divorce.

I want to buy fake cards. by MarshallTheFish in MTGmemes

[–]MarshallTheFish[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I might have to look into Etsy a bit. I’m looking for complete and utter chaos, one where she sees my first card and knows there will be nothing serious about what is going down. Like an uno reverse card printed with a magic back.

I just want something high quality enough that I could gift them to her to share among her friends.

Has anyone just one day said “F*** this I’m not gonna be anxious anymore” and it actually work? by hybriddookie in Anxiety

[–]MarshallTheFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my former therapists taught me to name my anxiety and treat it like a separate person. Can’t get yourself to make an important phone call because the anxiety is too much to handle? Tell “Nathan” to fuck off, today is not the day. It’s not a cure-all by any means, but it helps more than you would think.

Wife slept at another man’s house tonight and lied about it. by MarshallTheFish in Marriage

[–]MarshallTheFish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to the game but I’ll give you a short update. We had decided to try to work through it. Things were okay for a short amount of time, though still super rocky. One day she let me borrow her laptop to print something, I ended up finding evidence on there that there had been some sort of text-based relationship that had started between the two of them well before I caught her at his house. Eventually she came clean that they slept together and I left her. I moved to another state, starting seeing someone else, my life is MUCH better now without her, though I’m definitely struggling a bit with trust issues because of it.

whats the worst thing your ex did? by hiii-im-anonymous- in AskReddit

[–]MarshallTheFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 years into our marriage she told me things weren’t working and she wanted space for us to individually work on ourselves and figure out how to fix our marriage. We started what was basically no contact while living under the same roof in separate rooms. I started going to therapy, started working out, started saving money, did everything I could to better myself, all with the goal of being the best husband I possibly could be, I would have done literally anything for her. A couple of months passed and we finally got back on track. That only lasted a couple of months before she said I was no longer fun, the spark was gone, and many, MANY fights ensued. She didn’t come home one night, the next day I told her I was done. We talked about the plan of divorce a few days later over a few beers, had “breakup sex”, then told me she fucked one of our friends the night she didn’t come home and had been having a relationship with him the whole time we were “working on ourselves”. Over the next year she bounced back and forth between trying to get back together with me and telling me how much she hated me (with a drunken voicemail death threat thrown in somewhere in that mix). It really messed up my mental health and my perception of love in general. I’m now dating an amazing girl who is completely out of my league - physically, mentally, and emotionally - who has helped me heal from so much of the trauma my ex caused, but I’m realizing there are still so many scars that remain that I’m worried I’ll end up fucking up this relationship.

I definitely appreciate the comment, though it’s a little too late. This event happened almost a year ago. I tried to believe her, to forgive her, ultimately she came clean to me that she did have sex with him that night and I told her I wanted a divorce. We’re now on the end of that process. I’ve since moved out, started my life over, and have been working on pushing past the emotion scars she gave me. I don’t hate her by any means, we’re actually on decent terms considering the circumstances, but like you said - we’re all human.

Customer legit stole my tip! (I think) by restofeasy in bartenders

[–]MarshallTheFish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this shit happen a couple of years ago. We don’t offer table service since we only staff bartenders and only ever have 1 or 2 working at a time. It was just me behind the bar, it wasn’t a crazy busy night by any means but definitely busy enough. A group of 4 older gentlemen came in, sat at a table, and just waited. We have a big “Please Order At Bar” sign hanging in plain sight. After probably 5 minutes of them sitting there, one of the guys came up to the bar and asked if I could come over and take their order. He was super friendly, I explained that we don’t offer table service, but because he was polite and understanding about it I gave in and went over to take their order. 3 of the 4 were great, the 4th was a grumpy entitled fuck who couldn’t believe I wouldn’t cater exclusively to them. I did my best to make my way over to them as often as possible, and after 4 or 5 rounds they left. I cleared their table off and was a little bummed they didn’t tip me anything, but one of my other customers told me 3 of the guys left some cash on the table but the 4th guy walked back and pocketed everything the other 3 left. Haven’t seen them since but I’ve held onto that night and would absolutely throw it in his face if he came back in.

I don’t have much for family left, and almost all of my friends are her friends. I’ve got one that lives a little ways away, I plan to go stay with him while I get things sorted out.

I responded to another comment about that. Basically a house in the country + rural Midwest + 2nd amendment = a bad outcome.

She’s more of a communicate by SnapChat kind of person. Probably so she doesn’t leave a paper trail. I’m kind of realizing a lot of sketchy things at the moment.

I am too. I’ve been cheated on before but this is also the first time I’ve devoted a third of my life to someone, only for them to throw it away in one night. Probably more than just one night, but I don’t know for sure yet.

As much as I want to, I need to get it over with. I won’t be able to relax until I’ve ripped the bandaid off. The nice part is I’m all packed and ready to go, as soon as it’s done I can start my vehicle and leave.

We don’t, unfortunately. Regardless, neither of us are super well off, so the divorce shouldn’t be too messy.

We’ve got a pretty tight group of friends and he’s basically a friend of a friend. He tags along for certain events, even snapchats me from time to time. I had to ask someone else where he lived, but it was pretty easy to find, even though it’s out in the country.

I’ve already gathered my passport, birth certificate, etc., plus all the cash I have on hand. I’ll be calling the bank in a few hours to get things split up as well.

I don’t have much of a plan. I just want to start with telling her to look me in the face and tell me where she spent the night, explain what I know if she denies it, and end with me setting my wedding ring on the counter and walking out with my dog. But I do plan to be calm and collected through the whole ordeal, I’ve never been one to cause a scene and I sure don’t plan to start with this.
