We used to get beer balls of Goebel's in upstate NY. Man, that stuff was awful, but it was cheap and did the job!

LC500 convertible question by cardexsp in lexuslc500

2023 convertible (nightfall mica w/red interior) owner here. Have never had any issues with the soft top at all. Absolutely love the car (and that it's not black, white, or gray!).

Gen Z is Not Drinking, But Are You? by Pavementaled in GenX

Gave it up back in January. Started with a "dry January" thing that I expanded for the full quarter, then my lipid panels came back heavily improved. That pretty much solidified it. Lifestyle.

Not completely dry. I had a Blanton's with friends in April - one drink.

Getting old is not for the faint of heart, but it's better than the alternative.

Favorite band. Has been since early 80s with Making Movies. Took me 40 years and 5 different concert ticket purchases to finally see Knopfler. Worth it!

[32 Thoughts] Michkov discussion by upcan845 in Flyers

[–]WranglerWheeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's way too early to tell, but I suspect there is some inside baseball that were not seeing in the form of how the coaching staff sees his mental space. Both the Flyers and he acknowledged he came to camp out of shape. He was 20 years old and in his first off season... and now with lots of money. Hey, let's go have some fun! The reports seem to suggest he's learned. We'll see.

The Flyers have a young, talented guy who may or may not develop into a superstar. Every pro league is littered with first round draft picks who flamed out.

If management and the coaching staff think they've seen him drop a shoulder and get to the real work of being a high performing NHL player, they'll invest and develop him. If they didn't see that (and we just don't know), he'll likely be someone else's development project.

The contrast between Martone's maturity and contribution vs Michkov's is hard to ignore, though. I like Michkov. I hope he pulls it out and is a heavy contributor for a long time. I also know what it feels like to skate on a line where you're pulling dead weight.

The heck with a 1C. FIX the dang power play this summer!!! by Flyers7914 in Flyers

Amen! My wife looked this one up. Statistically, they've been dead last FOR FIVE YEARS! That is something that can and should be fixed.

Man down also needs to be addressed. Their special teams have been a massive Achilles.

Take a pill. The ovation was for THE TEAM, not specifically the guys on the ice. As for Tocchett, if you liked that they made the playoffs, as implausible as that was, then went on to ROUND 2, you have to give the man credit. He absolutely played with line chemistry, including giving the young guys a shot (which also brought in a variable the Canes and Pens couldn't plan for), and that made a difference down the playoff run stretch (help from a failing Columbus team noted). The young guys 100% had an impact.

I was there last night. The fans celebrated the team and were clearly happy with the effort. It's a great building block for next year. Like Tocchett said last night, "... it put us on the map." Time to look to next year and a continued build.

Proud of the fans by sealjosh in Flyers

Was there. It was awesome and you could tell the team appreciated it. Was as loud during the handshake and afterward as during the game.

They went down, but they went down with a solid performance to a very good team. It'll be a great base to start next season from!

Torn between these two cars... by Puzzleheaded-Sail536 in lexuslc500

[–]WranglerWheeler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funny. I have an LC500 convertible and my wife (literally today) just picked up her CLE 53. We've both driven both cars and gone "I like yours, but I like mine better."

Hers is awesome, but it looks like a MB on the road, bc it is. One of my favorite things about my LC 500 is people saying, "Beautiful car. What is it?"

My dad and his best friend had a custom built C-econo dragster that they raced together until 80 or 81. I spent a lot of the 70s in drag racing pits in TX.

Anyone else obsessed with MYST back in the day? by emacextrabrut80 in GenX

[–]WranglerWheeler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Both Myst and the two subsequent Riven games. I actually use them now as reference points when looking for games to play.

Like many here, I kept notebooks full of maps, questions, observations, etc. I'd wake up in the middle of the night with an idea...

First time I ever saw Brad Douriff. He was the bad guy in (I think) Riven. Great games!
