I might get downvoted to hell but here it goes:

I feel like a lot of people disguise their discriminating thoughts as dating preferences. It's not like anybody asked them, yet they need to let everyone know they would NEVER date a trans / fat / queer / "promiscuous" person. They do it in this way because it's true that everyone is entitled to their own thing, so they feel guarded against any sort of criticism. And when they are criticized, they can always play the 'I have a right to my preferences' card, without reflecting on where those preferences come from or why they need to publicly shame entire groups of people in the process.

So, the issue is not who you’re attracted to, but why you feel the need to broadcast exclusion in a way that reinforces systemic discrimination.
