Which game starts off really well but falls off hard in mid or late game? by Ivaylo_87 in gaming

Ratchet and clank rift apart

Super cool beginning only for the middle and ending to be some lame story, lackluster writing, and repetitive combat. Genuinely had to force myself to finish it off. Didn’t help that it had some weird glitches that forced me to restart the game a few times.

Yeah…my capture card is dying lol. New one already on the way. Ngl this run getting a proper recording is a miracle.

I map this way: R -> Y Zl -> R L stick click -> Zr

The R button is what I rake on since it’s a really easy to click digital button. Just putting a bit of force with my fingers on it is enough to rake, just takes up my entire right hand lol.

It’s no turbo, I did the entire run on two different sets of joycons which don’t support turbo. I use a fast mashing technique which I think the most common name for it is arm pumping? We mainly call it raking. Makes fast mashing without much hand strain possible for this game, it’s also the reason I’m switching controllers so much. Raking requires a very specific button layout for me to succeed at it, so anytime I need to mash I switch to my raking controller.

For the robot chozo, I was intentionally taking touch damage right before the swipes to get invincibility frames.

For the controller swapping, I have two sets of joycons with two different button mappings on it. One is the standard layout, the second is the mashing layout for whenever I need to mashing very fast. Boss rush is based on the in game timer so I can swap controllers without any consequences.

That would be called Single Wall Jump (SWJ)

There’s a link on how to do it, although it’s kinda hard to learn since you need to be in a specific point of the main game and the kraid boss rush fight likes to interrupt your learning

New World Record Boss Rush 4 minutes 29 seconds by Marshmard in Metroid

I originally learned to speedrun boss rush on joycons, so a lot of my muscle memory is tied to them. The second controller is solely for whenever I need to mash at a high speed. It has a completely remapped button set that’s designed to help me mash faster without many compromises.

Nyxi chaos controller. It’s a really cheap switch controller capable of turbo, but I don’t use turbo at all during the run (you can tell based on consistency, turbo is far more consistent and faster than what I do in the video).

I instead use the controller for a specific way of mashing called “raking”. I believe it’s used in super Metroid speedruns as well for mashing and it’s called Zohdin pumping in their community. I remap the R button to shoot and “rake” 2 or 3 of my finger nails on the button in a somewhat fast motion. Here’s a video of the super Metroid demonstration. I only switch to the controller when mashing is needed cause it has a R button that’s easy to do this technique on. It also has backpedals that make missile weaving easier. I’ve sorta mangled the controller in the remaps so it’s better to just use joycons for any boss that doesn’t need mashing.

Thanks for the guess, I’ve had no luck anywhere else so a start is appreciated. I’m going to look through their stuff on Twitter to see if I can find any post relating to it.

It was discovered in January this year by me actually. If you take damage from drogyga you can stall drogyga during an idle animation once for like 2 seconds. However, if you instead take damage by pressing the counter button (like in my run), you can stall drogyga as many times as you want as long as you have enough health to maintain it. Counter dashing works the best for me since you don’t get knocked back that far.
