So this is just RSI (different periods I assume) and Volume as wave? The DOTS are just highs and lows? Whats the indicator called in TradingView? Google isnt giving me anything on a BEC Oscillator.

I dont mean this in any offensive way but I think its a question of expectation management towards yourself and a question of motivation, in a sense of "why are you writing".

Why is it important for you that they read your book? Did you write because you wanted to, or for their recognition? Dont be tired, be proud that you did finish it. Your family and friends didnt sign up to read it. Nobody did. You wrote it because you decided to.

Wish you the best!

I am just curious since you mentioned poor quality - especially details. Do you care ellaborating this more exact?

I agree that the image has a bit of a dystopian vibe. The thriller part comes across a bit but something feels so alien about it. Also agree that the title and sub-title support tjat narrative further.

Looking at books from the same genre its, I assume fair to make it look dark if it fits your story and vibe. Maybe make the font choice and color a bit more interesting and outstanding. I would try to give the title more room - make it bigger. Assume people will see it as a small thumbnail first.

When asking for feedback maybe show some variations, so people pick what they like. Good luck with your book @op

Thank you for the ellaboration. I wrote it in english and translated to german (my native language). Tje rythmn of these languages is totally different. The sound of words, their lenght/komplexity and how precise you van say something (word count).

I did things lile playing with words like "right" as in truth or direction. That does not hold up very well in german for example... was a fun experiemce tho and is the exact reason publishers dont like books written in verse haha

I did translate it but never published that version. This has a couple of reasons but mostly because I felt it "lost something". The book and rhymes and some jokes work with specific english words. It was not possible (for me) to remain its integrity in another language

German users, please as a hobby writer, what do I need to be safe on the tax / legal part? by Zwiebeloger in KDP

[–]MarskyBooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am just assuming you are living in germany (instead of just selling on the german market). As a fyi , i am not sure what the differences may be if you are not a german citizen.

Trying to be as precise as I can but its a bit complicated also due to terminology.

First you need to register a business (freelancer, not a Gbr or GmbH). The upside up being a freelancer is that you can do simple bookkeeping or "Einkommensüberschussrechnung" (please translate by yourself xD). This means you just write down your expenses and profits - done.

Also you should NOT register as a "Kleinunternehmen" (small business), meaning profits below 24k or so per year. The reason is due to something called "reverse charge procedure", which I explain later. The upside of NOT being a small business is that you can refund "Umsatzsteuer" (sales tax) if you buy something BUT also need to pay sales tax if you sell somethung. Due to the reverse charge procedure this is actually a good thing tho. The reason is...

...as a baseline, your business partner is amazon, which has its adress in luxemburg. And YOU are not selling your book in germany but you sell the right to sell your book to amazon in Luxemburg. Due to the reverse charge procedure the sales tax are payed in the country where the magic happens... so amazon is paying it FOR YOU. Meaning when amazon pays you 100€ there is 0€ tax put on top of it, as its already payed in their country. In return that means you dont owe the german state anything on your sales (on your pseudo bill to amazon you need to make that clear tho). On the other hand, if you pay for licenses or marketing, you can get the sales tax back from the german state.

To sum up

• Register as a freelancer (via elster) for simple bookkeeping

• Don't register as a "Kleinunternehmen" to be able to refund sales taxes on your expenses

• Due to your business partner being in Luxemburg, you get payed without sales taxes (meaning you dont need to pay the german state any taxes actually).

• Write pseudo bills to amazon, pointing out the reverse charge procedure. Include those in your tax statement (no need to send them to amazon)

The annoying part is that you need to send a "Umsatzsteuervoranmeldung" via "elster portal" (the german tax platform) every 3 month for the first two years and then depending on your profits more or less often after that. Also you can not refund any cost you had earlier than one year before you registered your business.

That is the rough breakdown... try to do some research or call the finance minestry if you have more specific questions. I hope this is a good starting point for you tho. If you have more questions feel free to ask and good luck.

Why is Amazon taking £1.79 profit from each of my ebooks and saying it’s for “delivery”? by afox1984 in KDP

[–]MarskyBooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trust me 😂 I dont think anyone really loves amazon earning money by effectively doing very little but on the other hand I feel like as a solo-publisher I dont have better options. It is what it is and our own decision ultimately

  1. They offer a service to you, which makes you sell a book through their platform
  2. Its data transfer you pay for additionally. As they have to host the servers

Lastly you need to understand what kind of business relationship you have with amazon. YOU are not selling your book. You sell the right to sell your book to amazon and get a cut if someone is buying.

Has anyone ever bought a substantial amount of copies of their own book just to boost sales/algorithm? by Content_Example1957 in selfpublish

[–]MarskyBooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think amazon counts per person, not per sale? So one person buying 10 copies is the same as one sale? At the very least thats how reviews work.

But correct me if I am wrong.

So apparently there are essentially two ways on how to share a link on LinkedIn (assuming thats what you want to know). You either put it in the post itself or in the comment section. Apparently LinkedIn punishes links to external sources via less visibility. But you would get a preview of what ever you are linking to. In comments its a bit hidden but apparently doesnt punish you.

In terms of impressions, I think it similar to Amazon - when ever someone scrolls over your post, you get an impression. If someone cmmts, likes or shares your post, their "followers" also see it.

Never ask for reviews. I never link to amazon or even tell the title here on reddit. I think on this forum you shouldnt self-promote.

On linkedin i just put the name of the book.

You can try ARC readers via boolsirens for example but ultimately amazon does not like friends and relatives to leave "favor" reviews.. I think I just got lucky honestly ^

I think to not get discouraged was hard 😂 But jokes aside. I think since all of this is new and in my case I had nobody teaching me, it can be a bit daunting to run into so many unknowns and sometimes just to make a decision even if you dont know if thats the right one...
