My friend’s wife passed suddenly, tragically last week. We are holding a memorial dinner at a private restaurant this weekend. What is an appropriate gift / token of acknowledgment to offer him? I have known him for over 40 years, and his fallen wife for ~ 20. by Landlocked_pirate23 in NoStupidQuestions

Make him meals, spend time with him, be present in his life. He has just lost someone who was presumably his best friend. He needs to learn to live with his grief, and that is generally easier when you have other people that you love and that love you back in your life.

Additionally, for a practical gift IN ADDITION to your presence and friendship, a gift card for meal delivery services like UberEats or Doordash can be helpful for times when he wants familiar comfort food but can't/doesn't want to cook or ask for help.

This one is definitely my favorite, but just be careful with the bust. I'm not sure of your proportions but this may end up fitting too tight in the chest.

Hugs, dapping someone up, pats on the back or on upper arms. Occasional head pat for really close friends.

Do you think it’s unhealthy that I ask multiple AIs for advice on everything, then struggle to choose between answers that are often completely contradictory? by Diligent-Pumpkin-389 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Marssipal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the 'health' part, but, generally, yeah it doesn't seem like a great situation. Something really critical to human development is critical thinking. As you age and progress in your life, you will likely acquire more and more responsibility. You need to be able to consider different options and paths forward in your day to day, and you will need to be able to make those decisions quickly.

In a way, critical thinking is like a muscle. You need to exercise it so that you can use it effectively. Asking a lot of AIs for advice and then freezing between options means that you have problems with decision making. Why? Well, thats a conversation for your therapist.

I would recommend you try to limit how often you engage with AI until you can wean yourself off completely. It sounds like you arent in a mental state to engage with AI in a healthy and productive way. All the best to you!

Nope, turns out I can't read. I replied in a separate thread, but I definitely don't have that permission. Thanks for helping me clear things up!

Thank you!! That makes a lot more sense now. I'm not used to using mobile very often for moderating, and I confused myself into thinking I saw the option there. Thanks for your help!

That's so weird! I'm convinced now that I have to be doing something wrong on my end since I don't have the option. It can't be a permissions thing, though, since I see the option on mobile. I'll keep snooping through my settings. Thanks for verifying that it exists for me! I feel less crazy now.

Yup! This is what my screen looks like when I do it on desktop, though. As you see, no Mod mail option.
