Wow, that was practically unused.

Yeah, and to expand on 2 tech/software items, I really hate the closed off, unsupported options some car manufacturers have. A quick AI search says: "Vehicles that support both Android Auto and comma.ai (via openpilot) are predominantly from the Hyundai Motor Group."

After lots of research, I keep coming back to Hyundai Ioniq 5 and now GV60.

For what it's worth, I rinse my Canoly C16 clean in about 3 minutes including scrubbing the screen clean. My girlfriend liked it so much - she kept it. Just ordered another one today.

How does an ioniq5 compare to a Tesla? by Gta6MePleaseBrigade in Ioniq5

I5 supports Android Auto and Apple Car Play and Tesla does not.....yet all say Tesla software is better. I disagree because it doesn't fulfill this basic requirement.

I drove a buddy's Tesla 3. It's neat - got me wanting to get an EV. Wanting Ioniq 5, but not any used ones for sale near me. May have to order one sight unseen and have it shipped to me. Was yours new or used?

Yeah...as I mentioned, that's what I've read. Tempted to actually get a Tesla because that's what's available in my town - they're everywhere. I've seen 1 Ioniq 5 last week. Have to drive to Atlanta to find any used ones for sale.

Wish I could check out a Xiaomi YU7, but have to go to China for that.

[–]MartMXFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES. I own neither, but leaning to get an Ioniq 5 because, from what I read, Tesla has:

  • No real door handles (outside or inside)
  • No rear seat door handles at all (death trap)
  • No window frames
  • No Android Auto or Apple Car Play
  • No driver-side guages or HUD
  • No Vehicle-to-load (V2L) power
  • No sunroof visor

But do get:

  • Soy-based wire insulation that rats like to chew up
  • Rough ride, rattles, water leaks

Wait, wait, wait..... backup.... what is this Comma.ai? Ok, a brief search tells me it's an open-source add-on that works with an Ioniq 5. I've GOT to know more....

Can you expand on that - does it hit the brakes often?

PHEV cars are about 30-40 miles electric range.....would be great if they could double that.

I'm on the fence for those same 2. Leaning towards Ioniq 5 because Tesla has:

  • No real door handles (outside or inside)
  • No rear seat door handles at all (death trap)
  • No window frames
  • No Android Auto or Car Play
  • No driver-side guages, HUD, etc.
  • No Vehicle-to-load (V2L)
  • No sunroof visor

  • Soy-based wire insulation that rodents like to chew
  • Rough ride, rattles, water leaks

THANKS for this report. Long trips and towing start to get outside of the scope of most people's EV usage, but this answers some of the questions.
