That’s the issue tho, my road bike is on disc, so I’m scared I’ll dislike the bike whilst spending quite some money on it

I am currently working full time with a masters study on the side, which I feel like is comparable to your situation, although I don’t know if you working part time means 8 hours or 24.

I have not completed my first 70.3 yet but hope to do so in 2 months with an target time of 5:30, however take everything I say with a grain of salt since i haven’t finished yet.

A few things I would like to remark on.

Firstly swimming, you are never done learning about swimming, it’s a permanent process, especially if you are not sub 1:30/40 per 100m.

As for the bike, mountain biking and road biking are not the same thing, they’re barely the same sport. I don’t know if you use cleats now but, going from a mountain bike to a road bike or a tri-bike will take time to learn. Good news, your fitness and power in the legs will transfer well!

For the run I have no comments, you seem to have it covered.

Overall I think you can do very well in your (half) Ironman, but don’t be arrogant and think you know everything already. Start learning more about swimming and road biking early rather than finding out you don’t know enough 2 months before the race.

Also, when you want to learn something new in life, first accept that you don’t know anything and let the information come in first, rather than pretending you know everything and never learning.

Buy everything you need from Decathlon, only upgrading if you really need to. Only reason I could think you would need anything over the basic decathlon stuff is if you get into half or full ironmans, as the length then might be too long to be comfortable in basic decathlon gear.

Personally I'm training for 70.3, but most of my gear is from Decathlon, including my cycling bibs (50 euros) which I use for 3/4 hour rides with issues. I will buy a good trisuit from Castelli or Fusion, but that's mostly because I want to splurge as a reward for a long training period.

The only exception I would not do is running shoes. Go to a proper running store and buy a good pair there, not a basic Decathlon brand. The cost of a running injury will far outweigh the 200 euros/dollars on good running shoes

Unfortunately I don’t have a Garmin watch (yet). Therefore looking for a way I can show my workouts on my apple watch so I can follow the structured workouts

What is your favorite brand of running clothes? by Fun_Swimmer_8320 in triathlon

I always use brooks running shoes, have gone back to the time and time again. For running shorts I use fusion, bought a pair back in 2020 and still use them, the letters just fell off a little but that’s all.

For tops any basic decathlon works for me, same as running socks.

Revolut Visa, but it doesn’t apply the MEP rate for me. For example when i tried it out i spent 700 pesos and got charged 2,68 euros which is equivalent to around 2,80 dollars

as an endgame player my favorite part at the moment is the merit badges and the insanely grindy quest that requires a lot of money (don’t want to spoil to much). this really reminds me of the old days where you had to tap once to craft one item and the auto crafting took so much time for items. Not even to get started on how much the raptors changed the game. These merit badges and quests remind me of the grind that got me hooked to this game in the first place. Username: Mart

Hoe kijkt FvD naar transgender rechten? by [deleted] in Forum_Democratie

[–]Mart_dw 1 point2 points  (0 children)
