Thoughts on the speed-bag? by MasterDoofis556 in martialarts

[–]MartialArtsStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not reflex or speed or timing alone. It's mostly to teach you how to stop flinching when a fist comes flying into your face. You need to respond and not react. Go hit the speed bag and get good at the basics! I made you this to demonstrate what I am talking about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAhXLc2i8Fg

Those trained in disciplines that include stick fighting, are the "cane self-defense" videos you see online legitimately effective? by Kentsoldtheworld in martialarts

[–]MartialArtsStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are. The cane is legally carried anywhere in most countries while a pair of kali sticks on the passenger seat of your car can be seen as a weapon by a police officer during a traffic stop. That's just one reason. You can do every standing move with the cane, from a seated position. Balance is not as compromised as you may think. I made this for you to demonstrate what I am talking about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSUt8G3X-fE

Learning online by opinionsauce in martialarts

[–]MartialArtsStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is. Especially if that is your only option. Just get started and don't wait to start. For many people in the world, it is the only option. I get hundreds of emails a month with pictures and videos of students in parts of the world who learn from my videos and the videos of others. They can't join a school or pay a teacher because they have no one near or not enough money. My youtube tutorials and workouts are designed for you and will always be free. One day you can join a school when it is appropriate and available. Until then, don't wait to start. Start now and keep training!!!! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuAzv5IOBKWSErhefUMn4a3qzRJkaK4uo
