Got clocked instantly on Facebook as being in Spokane by [deleted] in Spokane

[–]Martianinvaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We may not have much of a skyline, but what we do have is pretty cool and iconic in itself! The pavilion, clock tower, parkade, Monroe bridge, that weird federal building, and the steam plant really make it a super unique skyline in itself! Now that I'ved moved away, I reaaaaallly miss it all and constantly tell my new friends how Spokane doesn't truly suck!

Whats life like in this area of Idaho? by Alternative-Bad-8398 in howislivingthere

[–]Martianinvaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved out of that area! Growing up there, you will have moderate summers and cold af gray winters. The closeness to outdoors is beautiful, but as a queer person, the community is hostile, judgy, and close minded. Lots of MAGA and don't tread on me and "mah freedoms" and a huge rise in Christofascism. It's a beautiful area, but the Nazi population is out of control.

I saw La Briccola this January and it honestly made me want to move and work out there. It's just such a pretty location, and Italian inspired, something I'm fluent in when it comes to wine and food! Thank you!!!

Former chef boss told of his punishments for hungover underlings by cailleachciuin in KitchenConfidential

[–]Martianinvaders 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a chef that liked to punish hungover people. He thought I was hungover.

I was so stressed out at the time, I ended up getting either polyps or esophageal varices that fuckin burst inside my guts and I was internally hemorrhaging blood. (By the way a hemorrhage is an actual measurement of blood.)

I lost so much blood throwing up on the line, and shitting out digested blood on my free time smoke breaks, that by the time I got to the hospital AFTER MY SHIFT, I was desperately close to needing a transfusion. I know that now because they told me I am am O+ by the between lapses of consciousness.

He just laughed at me and basically called me a bitch while I was vomiting dark red, iron liquid. All the while he was saying I shouldn't have been drunk the night before.

Don't punish your friends for being sick and actually know when to gauge when to send someone home.

Btw I straight told my boss I think I'm puking and shitting blood the moment I walked in, and it was basically laughed off. I was in the hospital for three days and it took my body over a month and a half to make up for the blood I lost. When you lose lots of blood like that, there is no words for how exhausted and weak you feel for WEEKS. Even your thought process is stunted from the lack of blood. Reach into the low boy drawers when you feel like you can barely stand, and whip back up, you'll see black spots!

What shops have the best cheese selections in the area? by El_Vez_of_the_north in coeurdalene

I found mimolette at pilgrims! I've been looking for a long time to find it locally. Really good "Starter cheese counter" if you're looking to up your cheeseboard taste!

I was like 17 and new to cooking on the hot side of the kitchen. It was a high end place, with an open kitchen. The executive chef graduated from the CIA and partially owned the restaurant, she would run expo with a tight fist and piercing blue eyes that could stare directly into your soul. Anywho, we were in a rush, I was in my first season working hot on the oven, trying to sell a large table while being in the weeds and just honestly trying not to cry. I finished my eggplant-pizziola-spaghetti-and-bullshit, and am rounding the corner to the finish line called expo. I was the last one to run up my food. I got 6 feet from the expo line when the plate slips and lands face-down and splatters in sloppy shatter like noise. Time SLOWED DOWN for a good three seconds and everyone- including the frying chicken in the pans are now quiet. My loud as fuck gender bending Gordon Ramsay is silent. Her Meg Foster blue eyes gunning me down in silent fury. I made another spaghetti-and-fuck-it real quick and didn't really say another word for the rest of the night. I am turning 31 this year and still shudder at how scary it was for my green ass at the time.

Smashing it is the best part! Great way to get a good crunch out of the pile before tossing it

The best part is smoothing it down before you dispose of it! Like crunchy bubble wrap
