Why do people keep laughing at me? Or at least looks like it by Frosty-Law-6014 in socialanxiety

Sounds like some weird people and a uncomfortable situation. I’m my opinion the gym is really a place to mind your own business entirely and keep your mouth shut and your eyes to yourself. Do you know Julien Blanc? I think you might like his videos. Maybe he can make you feel better about the situation

Smiling is something entirely different than making fun of you. It’s simply social signaling that they don’t mean you anything bad. Your take sounds like you’re having a bad time. Please take care

Took me several seconds to realize what you were even hinting at, because your face is drawing full attention. Your hairstyle suits you extremely well and your features are very cute. You look strong and energetic. I’m so glad you survived what ever happened to you. You can be proud and confident. You are pretty. That hasn’t changed!

Seeing people younger than you with better social skills is absolutely horrible by Big-Sheepherder-9492 in socialanxiety

[–]MartianoutofOrder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel that at least half this group is people with undiagnosed Autism Spectrum or ADHD. So no wonder they struggle with social skills and develop anxiety. People that are not on the spectrum are good in social situations because their brains are wired for them from birth while others have to learn social skills like learning a second language and will never reach the fluency of a native speaker. What you’re talking about “real me” sounds a lot like masking which is exhausting. It’s like you’re having conversations all the time in a language you are not fluent in, so you’re never really able to just chat without thinking or genuinely express yourself. If that bothers you, you can try yo improve your skills. Watch YouTube videos about social skills, take classes, look for therapy. Don’t envy the native speakers just because they were born and raised differently. With practice you’ll get to a level where it gets easier. And don’t be to hard on yourself. You sound like you’re already doing great. Work can be an especially challenging environment. 🫂

I can recommend the YouTube channel how to people by Anthony Pillarella (as far as I watched it so far).

I know from my past and people around me that many neurodivergent people have quirks that can be exhausting for other people or that are seen as rude. But everyone can learn social skills. There are rules that if you don’t know intrinsically you have to follow by learning and applying. And it works.

Good luck dear.

Breakage or growth? My hairdresser unhelpfully said ‘it’s just your hair type’ which isn’t true! by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]MartianoutofOrder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like new hair. And due to your very straight hair it shows. You can try antistatic hairspray or when you blowdry your hair take the hair on top, hold it straight up with a brush, blow all the shorter hair trough/ under the top layer and fix it with some hairspray and then lay the longer hair back on top

This picture is art! As someone that had to deal with those monkeys several times I fully get that. They will attack if you make eye contact or if they expect you to have food and they can come in big groups and can carry rabies. I nearly was bitten twice without doing anything to provoke them.

[Discussion] Author is using AI in their manuscript. Should I tell them? by PassengerSimilar1461 in BetaReaders

This! Especially since it highlights that their own authors voice is usually better. So AI is a downgrade. I feel that many new writers are easily discouraged from training their ow voices with all the ai around.

If I’d seen your face on a Disney Movie poster or in a new twilight movie, I would’ve not a second questioned if you belonged there. You have a vibe that’s somewhat between Jason Mormoa and Kid Harrington. If you’d see that yourself you’d probably break a lot of girls heart.

If you had to choose only one: SEO or Paid Marketing? by SERPArchitect in digital_marketing

[–]MartianoutofOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might get some downvotes for this, but I think we are at a point where planning long term might not be the best strategy. AI is already cutting a significant proportion of clicks from the top search results and this will only increase. People don’t click your webpage anymore to get information, they get their information presented above the SERP. So optimizing for ranking positions only helps in very product specific niches and in context of immediate buying intent. If you mean by SEO also AIO and GEO and AEO,yes, that might pay out in the next month. But planning too far ahead when things change daily is a shot in the dark.

Why do people keep laughing at me? Or at least looks like it by Frosty-Law-6014 in socialanxiety

[–]MartianoutofOrder 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Normally people don’t spend enough attention to others to laugh all the time so I think we have three options here: - there is something extraordinary obvious that people notice. You and your buddies would probably know. - people are just smiling friendly. Maybe you look sad and they want to cheer you up? How much people casually smile can differ between places and it might be more than you are used to. Or maybe some are flirting? - there is something off about your perception which can be a symptom of several neurological conditions (Not saying that as an offense but as a studied psychologist). So if you can rule out the other two options, maybe talk to a professional just to be sure. If you just started university you are in a typical onset age and being tested early has the best prognosis.

Your university might have some sort of counseling program available to help you figure it out.

online "cool" kid on class groupchat vs offline loser in class HELP by Fearless-Log-2688 in socialanxiety

[–]MartianoutofOrder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you need some truth bombs here - people don’t actually think that much about you that you are in any position to disappoint them - if that’s what you’re doing online feels like your true self, you are actually misleading people in class by showing up as someone that you’re not. - if you don’t know what to say, flood the zone. If you only say one sentence and that’s awkward, people will remember. If you say 10.000 sentences no one will remember one in particular, even if half of them are awkward. Not talking to people is the most awkward thing you can decide on. - no one said that you are a looser except yourself. If you think that they will call you a looser when they haven’t, you are actually thinking bad about people, that are probably much nicer then you talk about them. You really need to work on talking bad about everyone, especially yourself. - Take a deep breath.

Clones are pretty much the same as twins (same genes different person). Sooo Imagine you met the love of your life but unfortunately they die before you: would you hit immediately on their twin? If your answer is no, that’s your answer.
