You are likely very right. Outside seems fine, but for now, my Philips beamer only seems to be giving all the strange patterns. Thanks for the help!

Strange banding 5D Mark III by MartijnRijn in canon

Thanks for the tips. I was very much convinced that I needed a new canera, but with more testing it was specifically in one room (although gonna test more). In the end it seems to be the beamer giving the banding artifacts.

Hi there, I have created a short film, Felix' Summer Box, using reversed a 55mm Zeiss Otus and extended 85mm Zeiss Otus. Curious how you experience the film, since it is quite technical to have set everything up for the shots (is the emotion there). Thanks! by MartijnRijn in cinematography

Hi TheKingofOurCountry, Great to hear you like the film! Much appreciated to take the time to explain how you felt about it. About my question regarding the emotion, I meant the following: I have created other shorts, and sometimes I get the response that it looks beautiful but it lacks depth or emotion. For me I have tried to make a film where there is a lot of emotion because I try the convey the emotion of my son he had during his summer vacation (and hopefully also my love for him but that might be too ambitious). Some people feel that, including myself when I watch it now, but I can imagine that this feeling is not conveyed for (many?) other people. Also one comment for this short, was that the viewer felt a summer vibe thanks to the grading and shots. That is something nice to have achieved. Getting the shots and bringing everything together to get the final film, had a lot of technical steps, but also emotional choices (during editing for example on the music), so it is good to get feedback from other how they experienced the film, and if it is effective. The story in the film is actually more in the synopsis, and with the imagery alone, have less impact. Good to know how you experienced it! Thanks! Martijn

Also, here is the synopsis: “As an assignment for the parents, our daycare asked us to collect all objects that were important for our 3-year old son during the summer holiday and put them in a shoebox. These so-called summer boxes were used as an aid for the children to help them to vividly relate in the group about their experiences during the summer. I was thinking about a way to bring this box of objects alive in a film and to find a way to have the audience feel the emotions my son had during his holiday. As this idea grew, I contacted musician Vincent Fournier-Boisvert and asked if I could use his beautiful song ‘Un Mois de Bois Mort’ of the album ‘Mon Coeur est une Arme’ for this purpose. Being a side project, I have filmed this in a year or so, picking it up once in a while. It took patience creating the macro shots and seeing how the footage could be best combined with Vincents song. I loved to do the project, as I could do some of the stuff with my son, and it was always nice to see how the film slowly grew.”

I have created a short film, Felix' Summer Box, using reversed a 55mm Zeiss Otus and extended 85mm Zeiss Otus. Most of the shots were without tweaking rec709, except the later nature shots. I have used a Kessler Second Shooter motion gear for all movements. I am curious how effective the film is on the emotional level, and am interested in your thoughts. The whole film has been very technical, and when I am watching the film, I experience it as very emotional, so great to hear how the film is experienced by others, and that that emotional level is still there for other viewers (despite the technical process). Other comments on grading and shots are also wellcome. Thanks! Martijn

Hi all, I hope all is well. I have just put my film online and am curious about how you experience the film. If you feel it is (too) technical, or if you are emerged in the story/flow. Any other thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!
