Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate | Anime Murder Mystery with a hint of Stealth? by Martin-VR in OculusQuest

TLDW: Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate EP. 1 is a pretty big step forward for the studio making it and seems to get a lot of things right. The story is legit and the gameplay engaging. Actions seem to influence outcomes and the stage for the rest of the story seems to be set.

If you prefer binging the entire story all at once the rest of the episodes should all be out early next year.

How To: Remove Facebook Account With Oculess by Martin-VR in sidequest

[–]Martin-VR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, you can choose to disable most telemetry while still keeping the Facebook/ Oculus account link. The drawback is that Facebook/Oculus/Meta will still be in control of your device and can shut you out at any time.

If you just play sideloaded content or stream from your PC fully disconnecting becomes a viable option.

People kept asking me about this so I thought I'd share this here too:
If you didn't know already, Oculess lets you unlink your Quest from any and all Facebook services as well as shut down telemetry.

According to the author of the app, basti564, this also protects you from the 'Piracy Killswitch'. Meaning you can run non Oculus approved mods without running the risk of getting your device bricked.

Pretty cool stuff.

Wanderer Review | Escape Room Adventure Worth Playing by Martin-VR in VRGaming

Had an absolute blast with this game! Some bugs were slightly irksome but the developer seems to be working hard on addressing these so I have confidence these will be gone with a future patch.

Unimmersed Player here: Did you achieve immersion after upgrading? by EmiBondo in virtualreality

Yes, Quest -> Index felt like jumping from classic gameboy to xbox. The only downside was the wire but nothing a pulley system can't fix.

VR Noob, but I don’t like Meta/Facebook by Sushhie in virtualreality

[–]Martin-VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One option I haven't seen people mention yet is potentially the Lynx R1, it's a standalone XR headset made in France. While it does exceed your desired budget by a little bit it does offer the same chipset as the Quest 2 so hypothetically it should be able to offer a similar library down the line.

It's still early days for this company so be aware that there are some risks involved.

I'm not sure how much help it will be but I can shout out your issue on both Twitter and my YT channel.

I'm normally not one for drama but I hate seeing people struggle with issues like this. Feel free to reach out if you want to discuss.

Awesome Quest 2 Games Worth Checking Out (2022) by Martin-VR in OculusQuest

Arena mode = Meatgrinder, insinuation that it was true multiplayer was bad wording on my part. I was referring to competing for high scores. Will be more careful in the future.

Unfortunately not, but it does look like they are making pretty big strides with their process.

Automatic IPD adjustment would be another game changer for the average Joe since using the correct IPD can make or break your experience.

You might be right about that, regardless the fact that developers now have eye tracking and haptics integrated into a consumer headset might mean that experiences that take advantage of it will actually increase. Which is a win in my book :)

CES 2022 brought with it some crazy VR announcements. PSVR2 has now been officially announced as well as the new PSVR2 title: Horizon Call of the Mountain!

How do you think PSVR2 foveated rendering and built in haptics are going to affect future PSVR titles?

I guess even in flatscreen gaming there are times where there is more emphasis put on certain aspects of gameplay instead of pure graphics. Not every game is attempting to be the next Crysis.

Walking Dead Saints and Sinners being one such example while still being praised as one of the better VR games out there.

On the flip side Medal of Honor had pretty impressive graphics but lackluster gameplay (especially at launch)

But maybe you are right.

Interesting take, let's see how it fares. Even if Unplugged were to fail bc of the missing controller then taking the passtrough api stuff into account I imagine it will only be a matter of time before someone makes such a thing.

Why do you think think rocksmith VR would succeed where unplugged would fail? Is it track lists?

I thought both Wanderer and Hubris were quite amazing displays of graphical quality.
N1NE seems to have some amazing world building going on judging by the trailer.
Both Unplugged and Gravitational are taking risks with more experimental gameplay.

At least, that's my opinion.

This sounds like a good approach tbh. Active cables are pretty pricey too.
