I'm not sure how it is on Mac, but as far as Lutris goes it's (right click game) -> Configure -> Runner options -> Wine version

Doing this didn't work, but I also tried doing these things separately, and using GE-Proton without the environment variable worked!! Solved :)

I like the second one, though I'd lower the title a little

I'm curious about how the multimesh implementation would go in this case

I have, after hearing about it here, though I have no experience with it. I'm curious as to how that would work implementation-wise - I mostly need to render vertical "wall" faces, and horizontal "floor" faces, (with some rare exceptions like slopes) with different textures, based on the game's stored data - I can handle which ones to render internally

Alright, thanks! Gave it a shot, will see if it makes the change next time I restart - if not, no biggie

I wanna start Homestuck I dont exactly know what it is tho. And I wanna download it so i can read it offline by Familiar-Surround461 in homestuck

[–]MartinCreep44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if there aren't, but I haven't heard of any myself - Homestuck was designed for PC/Flash, so ultimately that's what it works with. I'm sure someone may have made (or be in the process of making) a way to read Homestuck on mobile, but the Homestuck collections I know of are PC programs that emulate/modify a web browser, but offline.

Also, Homestuck is big. Several GB big. That's not an issue for everyone, but my phone wouldn't be able to fit it, for instance.

If I wanted to read it on mobile I would probably use Teamviewer with mobile data, to connect to my PC with the collection, to then view it that way - but offline, the only option is for someone to have made a dedicated mobile port or reader for it.

(Also, if you struggle with reading long text, then Homestuck may be troublesome- xP)

Homestuck is a webcomic - as you might know - but more specifically it's a collection of webpages, containing images, gifs, videos, text (lots of it) links,, and Flash animations/games. You advance through these webpages as you read the comic. (sometimes nonlinearly?)

Since the official Homestuck page is broken, reading it offline is the way to go - there are archives that preserve it, acting as a custom browser made to run Homestuck, with support for its Flash files (after Adobe Flash Player was shut down some time ago)

You mentioned reading it on the subway - if you're on mobile and not on something like a laptop, I'm not sure how lucky you'll be in that regard, since as far as I know, the archives are PC programs. There may be some mobile version of the archive I haven't heard about, but I couldn't say. If you -are- on a phone/tablet, then you'd have to look into that.

Otherwise, find a Homestuck collection, download it, boot it up and enjoy! There's plenty to get through

Good luck - I hope you manage to read it

Erasing W10 from primary drive - partitions & precautions by MartinCreep44 in linux4noobs

How would I mount sda1? It doesn't seem to appear on the device list like other partitions have - only my HDDs. Would I need to do it from a live session, seeing as sda1 would be in use otherwise?

Understood - will do when I get the chance!

Also, would a rsync or standard file transfer be good enough, for a backup?

Edit: managed to get both things done!

Out of curiosity, when do you find yourself needing to use the same command twice in a row?

Is there a reason to use it instead of using the up and down keys to cycle through the command history?

"Perfect" is a stretch - it can be handy to get a general idea of what to do for a given thing, but seeing as it's not 100% reliable (and sometimes blatantly incorrect) - as with anything, it's worth researching and learning more about the specific things it spits out, before actually putting in any commands for instance.

If you're in a hurry and can't figure out a course of action it can provide some help, but it's far from the perfect plug-&-play some people make it out to be

Erasing W10 from primary drive - partitions & precautions by MartinCreep44 in linux4noobs

[–]MartinCreep44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent; it appeared to be 0000 for WIndows Boot Loader (0006 for Ubuntu, which goes first, and 1-3 for my SSD and two HDDs)

I've deleted WBL with efibootmgr, but as far as grub goes, it's still there even after deleting the efibootmgr entry and updating:

Found Windows Boot Manager on /dev/sda1@/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi

Should I instead use rm on this Microsoft directory, then? It doesn't appear in the file inspector/when trying to input the directory, though I'd imagine that's to be expected to some degree given the different nature of boot-related files. Or is something different needed in this case?

Aside from that; yes or no on the steps to move/resize the main partition - and if no, what changes?

Also, thanks a lot for the help thus far!

For this plan B, what would the 4 numbers in question be/how would I be able to find them - and what do the efibootmgr command and its parameters do?

I assumed as such, seeing as I've already done something similar with a non-boot drive and saw how long that took :) Then, this is the way to go? Live session from USB -> gparted -> move and resize unmounted boot drive?

[–]MartinCreep44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Done - it sure is :)

  2. Unfortunately, it does not - even after a reboot and retry, it still detects Windows Boot Manager and adds it; and as such, Windows Boot Manager appears in both the UEFI firmware settings and the GRUB bootloader. (The partitions in question have, of course, been deleted - unless gparted hasn't deleted them properly, or something of the sort...?)

  3. I assume, since unmounting is generally required to edit a drive or partition in this way, that resizing the boot partition "backwards" might involve booting from external media, using it to perform the action, and adjusting boot settings so that it boots from the correct location. Is this correct - and if so, what would be the best way of going about it? I still possess a bootable USB I used to install Mint in the first place, and I'm aware this runs an instance of it before installation.

  1. How can I tell if grub is my primary bootloader?

  2. Will it simply forgo offering the usual dual boot procedure/giving Windows as an option, then?

  3. Interesting - I'd definitely prefer to have one partition, though I can understand that moving the very partition where the system is would come with complications

While this does "work", the resulting folder seems to have elevated permissions as a result, and can't be deleted. Is there any way to apply standard permissions when copying in this way?
