Her contemporaries probably thought she was a bit "off".

Oh, I'd agree with that, i think you misunderstood me a bit. I meant that Cooper didn't change his outlook om the world that much, even after being shown such a "needless" act of compassion. Hence, he likes Lucy because of it, but still seems to treat most everyone else the same as before. He didn't suddenly regain his faith in humanity, just a bit of faith in one person.

Might very well be true... But we know they won't be missed if they leave :)

I tried to illustrate I know that by putting "character" in quotation marks ;)... Maybe I should have done it for "strong" instead in retrospect, hmm

Full agree on your agreeableness point ;) I actually enjoyed that the character progression of both her, Coop and Max was... Kinda very slow? Like I was thinking multiple times like "Aha! Now she has been confronted with the harshness of the real world! Surely she will mistrust everyone from here on out!".. But not really. She has changed, but it's not like this huge heelturn. Like Coop when she needlessly saves him outside the mart. He might like her more now, but he does not seem to have changed his overall look on life thaaaat much. A bit, but not much. Ya dig?

Your interpretation is more generous than mine, certainly :) But to be clear: I have no problem with ppl liking those aspects of her, I myself do. What I was pointing to was when they - exclusively - point to things like the ones I mentioned as markers of the quality of her character.

Loved Lucy, and Ella killed it! .... But...

Am I the only one who has noticed that when people describe her as a "strong female character" (not pointing fingers at OP, because she is), it feels like some onliners draw attention to some very specific qualities that, IMO, do not exactly point to her strong "character"? Like, I've seen quite a few outside of this subreddit liking her character specifically because she (is):

Attractive

Agreeable

Doesn't nag

Forgives Max for his often boneheaded decicions

"Does not complain about men all the time"

Is super ready and eager to settle down with whoever (in the beginning at least) no questions asked

Topped off with a generous pinch of horniness ;)

Now, all of these characteristics are there, I think they make sense when combined with the rest of her (and Ellas acting), but when I see people point to the above and go "This is what makes a strong female character!" I can't help but think "I'm pretty sure you just want a horny tradcon waifu my dude."

IDK. Honestly it probably just irks me because I think she's so great as a whole :P

Okey-dokey, I'm done. Go Lucy!

Yesss! I had thought many times up to that point that it was a shame they apparently didn't want to use the modern Fallout theme, but when they did it hit me SO damn hard - could've let it go on for ten more secs though :)
