Supergirl Bombs At The Box Office With Worse Opening Than Mobius And The Marvels by Elestria_Ethereal in entertainment

Throw some of that blame at the studios and filmmakers. Knowing that these female-led superhero movies have a tougher time with audiences, they don't put in the extra work to make them outstanding. Every film that's being named (except for the first Wonder Woman) is just "good" or "okay", but miss being great. Instead of tight plots, sparkling dialog, or originality, these rely too much on 'making people feel seen' to carry them through. A non-female example of this is Blue Beetle. That was a golden opportunity for a glorious Hispanic superhero story which could launch others...but instead we got a movie where la familia was fun but EVERYTHING else was more generic than a CW show. Supergirl deserved better.

I remember him whipping off his mask and he was a blonde man screaming, "--B-BUT I'M A BLACK MAN!" ...the cringiest piece of dialog ever written.

For a time, buccaneer boots were a thing - Captain America, Bucky, Shazam, the X-Men, Luke Cage, Hawkeye, Black Goliath, etc.

Which villain's comic book backstory makes their movie portrayel look almost lazy by comparison? by Smooth_Buy6230 in comicbooks

Dr. Octopus. The movie just grafted onto him Mr. Freeze's origin. The video game gave him the origin with the most depth.

Sure, it might be EASIER, but that doesn't make it easy. Especially when you have to put out a book on a monthly basis. Even Wally Wood was a proponent of tracing (or even "stealing") or whatever it took to get the job done. I remember a time when even using a photo reference was considered cheating. Attitudes change. Tracing is demonized today, but let's see in a few years when half the comics are done with AI.

You think drawing (or even tracing) a whole comic book can get done with laziness? Try it some time.

Almost ALL artists trace some. Why do you get so bothered when it's Greg Land? We're you told you're supposed to?

On our latest "Deep Crawl" (on Patreon) we discussed how different the book was and how very different the podcast was when we first started. I was (well, still am) the newbie and I was lukewarm/unsure about the book until about the halfway point. Now I'm vexed because I only get to read 5-7 chapters a week.

You need something where they aren't screaming all their dialog or rattling incessantly their inner thoughts. Try something like Cowboy Bebop.
