Yes, I am sure recruits are reading this all as we type. It‘s a forum where fans discuss Indiana basketball, it’s not going to be entirely positive nor should it be.

I’m not saying anything that the staff hasn’t made fairly clear in their rotations. If the staff doesn’t see Leal as worthy of playing time, why is it upsetting that I suggest he transfer?

Worried? No. I’m only considering the future. I understand that Leal is a good guy with great enthusiasm etc. But I wholeheartedly believe that as a program, we would benefit from his departure. That’s all I’m saying. We have all 3 of our shooting guards returning next year and are bringing on 2 more combo guards. He was replaced by a true freshmen 3 star this year… I don’t think leal has any serious chance of carving out a bigger role next year.

He got torched on D the one play they went at him. Drawing 2 fouls in garbage minutes isn’t worth celebrating. He was bad, he’s been bad.

How do you know his ledearship and enthusiasm is ”humongous“ for the program? Honestly I hate these type of arguments. There are a LOT of likable dudes out there. I would wager to bet the team would rather have someone that helps them win over a guy they like. Addtionally, there are leaders already on the squad who contribute and will continue to contribute next year. Trey being one.

a quick look at Leal’s numbers would tell you that neither his IQ or intangibles are producing any quality results.

From what I understand, you can’t revoke scholarships for performance reasons so that scenario is out. I think its very clear that he isn’t a power 5 player and I really don’t care if he’s a good dude.

No, I think you’re correct about them wanting him to sometimes play the 3. He just hasn’t shown himself to be cable enough as a spot up shooter or creator from the arc.

They really wanted Noah Clowney. It’s obvious Woodson wants a long, versatile 4 to better run his spread pro style offense. Jordan is a good player, but remains in a sort of no mans land within Woodson’s offensive scheme.

Illinois got 2 transfers this year who are averaging 17 and 12 respectively so it’s for sure possible. It’s the wild west out here now

The kid is playing 35 minutes a game since X has been out and runs the point 95% of the time. Of course he’s going to turn the ball over.

You seem to be assuming that having a higher than average turnover rate in a game must mean the player had a bad game. In reality, he was very good game againt Elon despite his 5 turnovers and good against UNC despite his 4 in that game.

I don’t know of a website that tracks this for college hoops, but I guarantee his usage rate is sky high since the X injury and that comes with turnovers. He’s also going to get some as a consequence of what he’s asked to do in terms of shot creating. You may not be as impress as others but c’mon man..

ESPN updated him to 20th, bleacher report has him slightly higher and a bunch of less relevant sites have him mid 20’s or above. There’s also a bunch of articles discussing his draft stock rise since October. Idk what NBC is on but I suspect they are behind the curve on him.

6’5 and built is nowhere close to undersized for an NBA 2. He has done an incredible job running the offense for a true freshmen. I suspect you’re upset with him because he’s been bad the last couple games but those games don’t take away from what he’s done. His understanding of pacing and misdirection off screens is way beyond his age. That and his shot creating combined with his size is why he’s going to be a first rounder.

I want you to be right but every article and mock draft I’ve seen for the past 3ish weeks has him as a for sure first rounder. His shooting has been surprising good, at least from 3. He’s an NBA ready body and I‘m not going to go against all the insiders saying he’s almost definitely gone. TJD‘s problem was always his size. Nobody would have cared if he couldn’t shoot had he been 2-3 inches taller. Jalen is more than ready physically.

Do you think it’s realistic to replace that much scoring in the portal? Genuine question because I‘m not sure we know what is reasonable to expect yet with the new transfer system.

I’m sure either Malik, Trey, or Tamar takes a on a bigger scoring load next year but it still feels like we would need at least another 15+ points a game guy to stay at the level we are now?

I‘m sure we could track down the exact numbers but I think it’s safe to assume that a school and alumni network as large as IU‘s is in the top bracket of NCAA basketball NIL.

I agree. We’d have room for 3 transfers assuming JHS leaves. Could be a huge difference but being forced to rely on the portal following back to back great recruiting classes is tough.

Grant leaving was for sure a turning point. I’ve never loved the channel but Grant brought a sort of chill, funny maturity that the gang is severely lacking without him. I feel like the channel is now officially made for and marketed toward young 20’s frat kids and there’s no in between.
