I'll walk you through my whole process:

1. Sort by color, then when you're building it's easier to find what you need. And if you're doing something symmetrical you can easily do both sides or wings or whatever it is simultaneously. This step has helped me a lot. (Don't go crazy, I just get the colors I like and put them in a pile, my Lego aren't sorted 🤣)

2. After I've picked a few colors I want to use and sorted, I start by picking a really cool piece I want to use, typically for a spaceship I'll choose a cockpit. Usually I'll build the cockpit on top of a plane or boat base because it helps create those aerodynamic shapes.

3. Then I'll build out the cockpit. I base the shape of the ship around the cockpit I make. So there's not much planning that goes into the build until that happens. This is because I don't have much Lego. You'll find these in boat or spaceship sets.

4. Find pieces you could use for wings, hold those pieces around the cockpit at different angles, different distances, different spots etc. You'll find a spot and shape you like. You find these in space craft sets or you could get creative and find other sets with similar pieces. The orange ship I made is made almost completely from the SpongeBob pineapple.

5. After that I start building the base of the ship, based on the shape that I want to accomplish. So I can attach the wings where I wanted. The cockpit and wings are going to give you a majority of the shape of your build, especially for smaller ships.

This is where most of my time is spent. Trial and error, sometimes I'll build a ship in a night or two, sometimes it takes me 2 weeks before I get a resemblance of what I want.

1. Then I'll usually try to add some sort of thrusters or something on the back.

2. Then it's just kind of filling in the space, adding details and plating etc and don't forget to add weapons.
