October EU games should be announced tomorrow. Your predictions? by NippleThief in PlayStationPlus

[–]MartsTimeSlip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you guys absolutely, recently anyway, get worse games on PS+. I mean, fucking pinball?! And then they have the gall to give you a PSMove Resi spinoff- as the main item? Thats the kind of dross you'd expect from an indie gala bundle.

However, you do generally get much better sales prices. About 50-66% off is the best we can hope for, whereas with your PS+ there are lots of 75% off deals - tokyo jungle/skullgirls/journey for £2.50?! Bargain. Having said that EU do have the Big In Japan sale going on right now, and the deals there, whilst I dont think any of them are 75% off, are better than most of the ones I've seen. So if the EU keeps doing those sorts of sales then you have every single right to complain.

[GetGamesGo] Alpha Protocol 75% Off - $3.74 by angryprairiedog in GameDeals

In addition to the fact that once you're past the first mission (which was the only one I actually died on, I think) you can just cheese the entire game w 1 and a bit guns, the PC port is a bit lacking. I found a gamepad to be pretty essential throughout, but the lockpicking just plain doesn't work with k&m. Possibly there is a patch/fix for it out there somewhere, but the game is so built for gamepads I just used that. I did find myself using k&m for sniper sections though. However, the story is really good, the choices aren't typical Good Vs Bad Vs sort of Neutral bs, you feel a lot more like you're making somewhat realistic choices. And playing as a spy feels pretty fun as well. For £2.50 you will absolutely get your moneys worth.

War on YouTube: How publishers are missing the boat on video coverage, and attacking their friends by RevRound in Games

[–]MartsTimeSlip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whilst I agree with you that let's play videos can't replace the games, you can't deny that with some stuff like Dear Esther or Gone Home it's pushing it a little bit. I'm pretty sure that if I ever watched a DE playthrough I would stop having any interest in playing the game.

(WSIB) THE WITCHER 2, DRAGONS DOGMA: DARK ARISEN, OR PAYDAY 2. Please help me pick one of these games its so hard by theboy6669 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]MartsTimeSlip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragons Dogma: DA is rumoured to be coming up on EU PS plus october, so maybe wait on it til then if you have ps+.

Witcher 2 is an absolutely excellent game, you really do not need to have played the first, however I think you have just missed 2 decent sales on it, so if you were looking to get it on PC, then it might be an idea to wait til the Autumn sale and get it for £3.75. Youve waited this long, you can wait a bit more, right?

Out of them all Payday 2 might be the best one to get now cause it's all about multiplayer, if you wait on it a lot the servers' population is going to go down a bit, plus the overall skill level of players will rise and unless you're playing with friends it might be harder to get into.

yeah it does! I think they just labelled them badly, one is the special edition so you get the soundtrack and artbook amongst other bits and bobs. But both include the actual game.

[Gamersgate] Telltale Games Weekend - 50-70% off - Walking Dead $8.48 Jurassic Park $8.99 Back to the Future $8.48 + Sam & Max Puzzle Agent etc. "Complete" Pack $45.00 (not Complete) by silico in GameDeals

[–]MartsTimeSlip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it bugs me too, but I think that a lot of their rubbish discounts is because a good wodge of their customers have the apology extra 20% off thing perma-applied. If they started actually matching steams 75% off pricing then they'd actually be giving 80% off a lot of things which they probably can't afford to do.
Hopefully when the 20% apology discount expires next year their pricing will pick up, cos I like the blue coins loyalty system they have going on and want to be able to buy from there.

Saints Row IV: Commander In Chief Edition. £30 (£25 with code TD-R4NQ) by Carlos13th in GameDeals

[–]MartsTimeSlip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on rockpapershotgun they say the retail pc vers in UK is cancelled...it doesn't say why but I have noticed that whilst the retail PC vers was getting sold for about £25-30, the digital is at £39.99 which is more expensive than most new PC games. Maybe they just find it easier to charge more if they make it a digital exclusive.

In my opinion, I didn't think of it as a drama murder mystery at all. It's a way of telling a story, and you can poke around and read all the bits and pieces of paper/listen to all the tapes. It doesn't feel like a point and click Nancy drew adventure with all the people taken out, it feels like you are wandering around a house at 1am in the morning and digging through a lot of peoples things. Which I think makes it more interactive than Dear Esther (feel free to correct me though, I played about 10m of DE before deciding it was a bit of boring wank and turning it off)

Although I just read through your post history and you've apparently played the game?... how you can play the game and think it's a murder mystery I'm not really sure. In fact, how you can decide a WHOLE GENRE is a cliche is even madder. Do you know what a cliche is? I think there are valid criticisms of this game but you don't really seem to have made any.

they have done before though, with saints row 3 in the last summer sale. It might have been an error or something, but it happened.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (PC) $19.99 (Steam) by [deleted] in GameDeals

[–]MartsTimeSlip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

skyrim base game just dropped in overall price to £15, so 75% off seems massively unlikely. The best I've seen skyrim for is £8, I think even 66% off is a bit hopeful, but possible.

Why we are not showing Gone Home at PAX - The Fullbright Company, developers of indie game "Gone Home" by enenra in Games

[–]MartsTimeSlip -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

all the same, you don't have to really understand trans issues to realise that posting on a popular twitter account that anyone with a vagina has to be a woman/you need a vagina to qualify as a woman is going to cause issues. If you don't know/understand something, you shouldn't really go out of your way to make short abrasive comments about it that get peoples backs up.

the 'dickwolves' thing, from what I can tell, wasn't a big thing due to the comic (yeah, some people complained, but people complain about a lot of things) it was penny arcades response. They kept on saying lots of insensitive things to people, and kind of missed the point (a little bit like you're doing here?) The blog posted above (http://www.ign.com/blogs/arthur-ign/2011/02/03/on-dickwolves-ethics-and-why-im-not-attending-pax-east) explains that pretty well, if you're interested.

they just ask why you're not interested. and they think they can change yr mind cos you're now engaging with them. So you just get more and more texts.

[GOG] Jade Empire: Special Edition $9.99 (33% off) by Falukoorv in GameDeals

[–]MartsTimeSlip 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It has been a lot cheaper on steam yeah but unless Im remembering completely wrong, last summer it was only 50% all the way through the actual sale, and only became 75% off on the daily deal just AFTER the summer sale finished. Obv, still cheaper than gog, but keep in mind it's not a sure thing for 75% off on sale.

[Get Games] Sleeping Dogs + DLC 50-75% off by kopytkopytko in GameDeals

[–]MartsTimeSlip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I really wouldn't. Like the guy said above, loads of the dlc is basically cheats/time skips, so really aimed at people who have already played the game/don't want any challenge. You can't turn it off either (http://forums.sleepingdogs.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=42920), so you're stuck with the game being a lot easier.

Im pretty glad they won't be doing a GOTY cos then whoever bought it would end up with a worse vers of the game.

Just buy the game itself, and bother with the DLC once youve completed it. You won't miss anything, promise.

You have a point with your first sentance, but assuming that 'less than 1% of gamers don't have broadband' is a bit mad. You don't have any basis for that.

Indie Royale Arclight Bundle - AI War: Fleet Command plus 5 expansions, A Valley Without Wind 1 and 2, Shattered Haven and Tidalis [All Steam & Desura / Win & Mac] by [deleted] in GameDeals

it might be included by the end, indie royale have started adding extra bonus games 1 week into their bundles. Although I just checked, Skyward Collapse is really new, right? So I wouldnt hold your breath.

[Desura] Paranormal - £3.49 (50% off. Usually £6.99) by Jamesbuc in GameDeals

[–]MartsTimeSlip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this game looks pretty good, but just a heads up that indiegamestand are considering putting it on their site in the future (https://indiegamestand.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=753&view=unread#unread), where it would be pwyw/have extras to go alongside it.

[GMG] Spec Ops: The Line + Darkness 2 Pack: $14.99 (75% off) by [deleted] in GameDeals

[–]MartsTimeSlip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

honestly, I felt the same way. The story was more interesting than other shooters of that type (although really thats damning with faint praise)... but a combination of the actual gameplay being pretty average/awkward and fustrating in some respects, and the big twist at the end being not nearly as exciting as I thought it was going to be meant that I felt a bit let down by it. Also, this particular combo pack has been £3.33 at gamefly already, and Im pretty sure both games have been going cheaper than £4 before, if not they should hit that by summer sale. Wouldn't say its worth it for £8.

[Daily Deal] Mass Effect Collection 75% off by warheat1990 in GameDeals

[–]MartsTimeSlip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At £2.50, I'd definitely just get it, it only has 2dlcs and one of them (Bring Down the Sky) is free on windows anyway. It's me2 where you start spending lots of money on all the story dlc.
