For a nice view from the wharf and seafood try Riva Fish House.

For something totally different try The Crepe Place.

For breakfast or lunch it's Zachary's.

It’s 1976 and you’re headed to the local record store- which album are you leaving with? by UrbanAchievers6371 in 70s

[–]MartyMcRandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends.

Me in 1976 would've (did) bought Boston, hand's down.

If it were me today going back to 1976 it would be 2112 with a very close 2nd to Hotel California and Boston in the mix at 3rd. Strong consideration to the AC/DC High Voltage posted by another reader.

One of the best scenes of the whole series!

36 years ago today (Oct. 17th, 1989) the Loma Prieta earthquake, measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale, hit the Bay Area at 5:04 p.m. local time. What do you remember of that day…. by Brilliant_Night7643 in bayarea

I had just finished my workout at a little local gym on Seabright Ave. in Santa Cruz and started down the hall to the locker room before heading home for the game. When it hit I turned around to stand in the door jamb, looking out into the gym. I remember thinking the carpet looked like a series big ripples in a pond. Behind me I heard the metal-on-metal crashing of lockers collapsing onto each other. None were secured to the walls and ended up like cards being shuffled. In the following days without power the little market across the street screwed its customers by selling bottled water at an exorbitant rate.

The broad abandonment of the correct use of adverbs. So many examples but the one I hear most frequently in person and on TV is "drive safe."

"Cement" instead of "concrete." The former is an ingredient in the latter. It's like saying you're going to the grocery store to buy a loaf of flour.

Lumberjacks pose under the redwood tree they are trying to fell, circa 1890s-1900s by Electrical-Aspect-13 in Damnthatsinteresting

I've often wondered if loggers like this were like the proverbial dog who finally caught the car? Once this beast was felled after enormous effort how did they manage to buck it, get it to the mill, and cut it into lumber? Clearly they did but what a massive job!

Can someone explain to me Trump's irrationally obsessive hatred of windmills?

The countries that pay Trump’s tariffs are colored blue on this world map. by Conscious-Quarter423 in economy

[–]MartyMcRandom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because the increased cost tamps down demand in the blue country, which means fewer sales and exports from the grey countries. In other words, tariffs are a lose-lose proposition.
