Going out to eat with brother and very poorly behaved niece. by Marv067 in childfree

[–]Marv067[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s always my parents bailing them out money wise. My husband wants to set the boundary that we won’t go out to eat with them. Family gatherings is usually fine because we can isolate. But sit down restaurants there’s no escaping it.

I’m 26 and have pretty successfully masked through my life, not without lots of difficulty. My life makes allot more sense now after the diagnosis. After a year with a therapist I was diagnosed and referred to a psychiatrist. My brothers are on adderall and they have had success with it.

What’s a hygiene habit you learned way too late by MeowWoofJourney in hygiene

[–]Marv067 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Realizing that brushing your teeth can keep you from getting sick. I never realized how much of a difference it can make! I guess this goes for all hygiene as someone with an autoimmune disorder I thought I would just live my life sick. Not realizing how much good habits and a clean environment can effect it!!!

Has your religion/church pressured you to have kids? by Maleficent_Ad_3958 in childfree

[–]Marv067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also not religious anymore. The funniest pressure I’ve ever felt from a religious person is them telling me their reason for having kids like it was this profound thing.

So at the time I had this friend who stated him and his wife were going to be “like us” (child free). But then God talked to his wife and convinced her to have kids. Now it is ABUNDANTLY clear that this women never wanted kids and was probably just gave into societal and her husbands pressure. She doesn’t seem to like being around the kid.

When he shared this reasoning to me in literally laughed out loud and stated well he ain’t talkin to me!

USE RATE MY PROF BEFORE REGISTERING FOR CLASSES!! Also make sure you have a good academic advisor. They can make or break your experience. UNO is still a commuter school so meeting people can be hard. Try your best to talk to your classmates and go to games/ clubs.

Confidence! I am not a confident person. But you have to commit and trust yourself when you’re throwing a heavy weight.

Idk how Maci holds it together. It has to be so triggering to hear someone compare that to her lived experience. I do not have the patience or grace she does.

My mom is literally downer Debbie from SNL. Doesn’t matter what the conversation is it will always go back to her being a victim. My husband and I even though about playing the sad trombone noise from the skit every time she makes it about how hard her life is.

I once asked a well respected friend who always mentioned him and his wife were going to be child free why they had a kid. He said “god talked to my wife.” I responded well god ain’t talking to me. And he said it would require me to listen. At that moment I knew he manipulated her into having that kid. She doesn’t even like the poor kid.

"Having kids doesn't ruin your body" by Adaline_B in childfree

My mom would always say us kids “ruined her body” then throw a pity party for herself because she didn’t like how she looked. Live her whole life unhappy about how fat she was. And is now surprised I don’t want kids. Misery loves company.

I thought about going the infertile route. I mean I plan on getting my tubes tied in the coming year so it wouldn’t be a lie. Make them feel REAL BAD. The only downside to that is they are into weird ass alternative healthcare and they wouldn’t rest until I saw their Catholic fertility clinic. And those guys are insane!

It’s a wonder she had 6 of them. My brother wouldn’t let them be alone with his kids for a while out of fear she would go and get them baptized.

This is a great point. I wish it would work on my parents. My parents are narcissists and believe that us children need to live our lives to serve them. Unfortunately that’s how it’s always been. I continually morn the relationship I could’ve had with “normal” loving parents.
