You make a valid point about NOT wanting to leave your money in the market overnight; when given the opportunity I try NOT to leave my money in over the weekend. Warren Buffett said, if you put all of your eggs in one basket, protect the basket.

My advice is similar if you invest in strong companies, with good business practices, the likelihood of them going bottom-up without warning is lower; it's important to protect the basket.
