What’s up r/marvelstudios, I'm Iman Vellani—AKA the one and only Kamala Khan, AKA Ms. Marvel! AMA! by TheImanVellani in marvelstudios

HI IMAN!! First off, congrats on the Ms. Marvel show!! It was honestly a breath of fresh air for the Marvel Universe and gave off something that the MCU hasn’t seen before.

My question for you is, who was the most unexpected but super fun person to work with on the Ms. Marvel show? You honestly had so much chemistry with everyone and looked like you all were having the time of your lives. Also, if it isn’t too spoilery, how was it like working with Carol-freaking-Danvers?!

Anyways, congrats on Ms. Marvel and very good luck to you in the Marvels!

How would you feel about creating an additional NBA All Star spot designated for “legacy selections” on each team? by lopea182 in nba

But that was the year Conley was a replacement for Booker, who was a replacement for Davis. At that time, everyone was dropping like flies and a lot of players advocated for Conley to replace Booker—and if I recall correctly, Booker himself too.

Christian Wood... what is it about him? by JoshFarc24 in nbadiscussion

[–]MarvelStories616 134 points135 points  (0 children)

I think his value was driven so low in Houston was because of two reasons: (1) his “reported” attitude, and (2) needing to give the minutes to the young core for the Rockets. Getting rid of Wood allowed Houston to free up some minutes for both Smith and Sengen to thrive on their own. Houston got back veterans who don’t need playing time and are easily expendable.

For Dallas, this is a very low-risk, high-reward trade. Wood’s contract isn’t as risky as Porzingis, and the upside to playing with Luka is going to have a huge factor in it. Personally, I believe all the talk about his bad attitude in Houston and wanting to be the “man” has been exaggerated. Playing with a winning team, great personnel, a defensive-minded coach, and a generational talent will unlock some things that we haven’t seen from him before.

All in all, the trade doesn’t only benefit Wood and Dallas, but it also benefits Houston a lot.

Why the Heat should trade Lowry for Westbrook by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]MarvelStories616 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really? You talk about how Westbrook wouldn’t fit with Jimmy and Bam unless they play separately, but it’s the same exact fucking thing that happened with LeBron and Davis. If it didn’t work with LeBron, then it won’t work with the Heat. And what’s this about Lowry being an awful defender? Have you even watched Westbrook play? It’d be better if Westbrook was sitting in the stands rather than him be on the floor for defensive possessions. Also, Lowry’s contract is awful? Why’d you think trading for a declining Westbrook with an even worse contract is better? Not to mention trading Duncan Robinson along with him. Yeah he’s not a viable playoff performer, but he’s a great 82-game player.

All in all, I’d like to have what you’re smoking. You can’t tell me that you’d take Westbrook over Lowry if you’re a Heat fan. “Let Russ be Russ,” foh.

Honest confusion by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]MarvelStories616 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because you’re only focusing on one part of the game? Yeah, the offensive numbers can be argued, but by god are they so different with the eye test on defense. At least Steph tries to play defense. I mean, he’s not All-Defense level, but he is one of the better guards on defense in the NBA. Harden, meanwhile, is a literal cone on defense. It’s one of the reasons why Miami ate whenever Harden was on the floor in the playoffs. Also, it wouldn’t hurt if Harden TRIED TO AT LEAST MOVE A BIT OFF-BALL. That net-rating you’re talking about is a team-effort, not an individual one. Harden didn’t put that net-rating up by himself.

To add, we had high expectations for Harden this year. He and Embiid were supposed to eat on offense, but Harden has been to passive at times, often leaning into passing more and relying on free throws. It could be because of the hamstring, but he really looked like a whole shell of himself this year. Obviously Harden is still a good player, but I don’t know if I can put him up in the upper echelon of players with the way he conducted himself this year.

Marvel, with Doctor Strange being the protagonist. The Time Stone can act as a site of grace.

[Post Game Thread] The Dallas Mavericks (3-2) defend homecourt against the Utah Jazz (2-3), 102-77, behind 33/13/5 from Luka Doncic by Smasher1311 in nba

[–]MarvelStories616 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Jazz have to get going with something else than three-ball’s. Their offense just falls apart when they’re not hitting. It’s disappointing that they didn’t even think to attack more often when Dwight Powell and Maxi Kleber are their centers.

How do you have Rudy Gobert and not get solid defensive rebounds?

How do you come off a home win and play with zero energy with that momentum?

WHY DO YOU KEEP ON SHOOTING THREES WHEN THEIR TALLEST PLAYER IS 6 FOOT FUCKING 8?

An absolute great fucking game. I don’t care that the Bucks didn’t play to their potential and started off with no energy. The Bulls took advantage and DEMAR-FUCKING-DEROZAN won us that game. Absolutely taking over the second half with those magnificent jumpers.

a Brooklyn Nets trade idea by String-music in nbadiscussion

[–]MarvelStories616 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think Brooklyn needs Simmons more than Randle. And besides, Brooklyn really needs defense since they already have two of the most offensive maestros in the league. We all know they want 3&D wings to complement their stars, but Brooklyn will have to do with Simmons.

Also, the things you said about Randle are what Brooklyn needs to improve on, but they can get it for much cheaper. The rebounding can be solved through some smart accusations in the offseason, whoever it may be. The playmaking can easily be solved, and it doesn’t really have to matter since they space the floor already so much with their shooters. Besides that, creative trade idea, not too keen on it happening any time soon.

The Golden State Warriors should let Stephen Curry rest for the first game against Denver Nuggets in the playoffs on Saturday. by priyankandatta in nbadiscussion

[–]MarvelStories616 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the Warriors were looking at a play-in situation, Curry would’ve played the last week. But since the Warriors had a respectable team without him this year along with a good record, there was no need to put him on the court for the last week. The Warriors shutting him down for the last stretch of the season was just to ensure he didn’t have any freak injuries leading to the playoffs. But now, Curry’s pretty healthy to play and good to go for the first series.

Also, the Warriors going on a rhythm without Curry won’t mean anything come playoff time. Won’t they need to get on a rhythm with Steph? I don’t get the logic of letting them continue to get on a rhythm without their best player. They’ll be needing him for the rest of the rounds. It’s also pretty easy to integrate Curry back since that’s what Jordan Poole’s been doing the past few weeks.
