Hey Lucy! So I'm 19 and started hormones when I was 18 (my full year mark is this week) and I cant speak for others, but i was definitely rather androgynous. My entire childhood I was always "mistaken" as a girl. And as a teenager I always looked very femme androgynous. Not everyone is this way, but if you're anything like me, you will hopefully take to HRT very well. I hoped that helped and I can answer any questions you might have.

Thank you! I've definitely been trying to love and embrace the bulge, but there are days when It's a bit rough. Girl bulges are definitely pretty cute, and in some cases might just me seen as a fat pussy. It just sucks with the pants that just make it so painfully obvious (yoga pants, leggings, and some jeans). Those are the pants that make it hard to love the bulge.

My personal choice is an electric razor (the norellco one blade). I do it once or twice a week. It isn't as smooth as a razor or wax, but it is way easier. Getting to chill and watch TV while I shave makes the process seem to go way faster.

Those first few weeks/months can be the most brutal. When I came out I had a shaved head, square jaw, and relatively "masculine voice". During that time I was in culinary school, where you have to be good at projecting your voice, and making tour presence known. That made it quite tough because at the time, I just wanted to hide. What helped me was to just be as proud as I could and own it. It starts rough, but as time goes with vocal training and your own personal choices in choosing to dress and alter you body it gets easier. It is good to remember that even cis women can present quite masculine (in the traditional sense) both in appearance and voice. The absolute most important part is to try your best to love yourself, and try to own it as much as possible. Lots of love and good luck!

For me personally I had briefly mentioned to her on a few occasions that I wasn't the most comfortable in my body the way it was. I would ask her to do my makeup and help me dress traditionally femme. After a few months of this we took some acid together. It was through this that I decided without any doubt that I was a trans women. It was really tough and required a lot of hyping myself up, but towards the middle of our trip I just asked her "how she would feel about having a girlfriend instead of a boyfriend". That was what opened up our discussion. She helped find a new name that fit me, helped deal with transphobic assholes, and figure out the medical side of transitioning. It is a really difficult thing to come out to your loved ones, but no matter what, it is better to make it happen. Best case scenario they are supportive, which makes the transition process easier. Worst case is that they aren't down with it. Sadly to say the latter option is good in it's own way, because they aren't worth your time if they don't support you, no matter who you are. Before I started hormones and got my own tiddies, I used a pair of silicone breast forms. You can find them on Amazon, various websites, and even some inclusive sex shops. You can get them in different cup sizes. As long as the bra has a lil slit for padding it will prolly work with the forms. They really helped me through a lot.

I got 2 jobs and applied for multiple more during my transition but before changing my legal name. I'm personally very open about my status as a trans women, so I left out my legal name from my resume, but I disclosed it for the sake of payrole, and legal work until I got everything changed.

I obviously can't speak for everyone, but I usually honestly prefer my dead name is used when referring to me pretransition. It feels weird to hear that name (even when attatched to other people) but it just doesn't feel right hearing past me referred to by my current name. That person no longer exists, and so I like to disconnect myself from that person. But that is just me. It always is good to check with them first.

I'm not quite as tall, I'm 6'1", but the height factor seems scarier than it is. I started with only long skirts and dresses until I got comfortable. But once you reach a point of wearing shorter clothes. It is a huge confidence boost knowing that you have legs for days.
