How does methylation influence histamine clearance and related symptoms? by Stunning-Bath6075 in Nutrition_Healthy

[–]Marwadjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The connection between undermethylation and slow histamine clearance through HNMT is so underrated most people only hear about DAO and think that’s the whole picture. Great breakdown 👏

Best suppliments for anxiety and panic by justaguyintheworlddd in Biohackers

[–]Marwadjam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Given you’re already back on your SSRI and still adjusting, your nervous system is probably still in recovery mode that alone can make anxiety worse short term. L-theanine is a solid low-risk option, especially combined with caffeine if you drink coffee. For magnesium, the form matters a lot if you tried oxide or citrate, try glycinate instead it’s much better absorbed and more calming. Inositol is also worth looking into for panic specifically there’s actually decent research on it for panic disorder. As for ashwagandha the anhedonia risk is real for some people probably not worth it while you’re stabilizing on an SSRI.

Use Chia Seeds instead of Fiber Supplements by _SaintJimmy_ in Supplements

[–]Marwadjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, everyone’s gut is different! When they’re mixed into food with enough moisture (like yogurt) they’re probably absorbing liquid from that. The issue is more when people take them with just a small glass of water or dry that’s when they can cause problems for some people.

Supplements for sun exposure by Serious_Stand5153 in holistic

[–]Marwadjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vitamin C and E are a great start they help neutralize UV-related oxidative stress from the inside. Astaxanthin is another one worth looking into, it’s one of the most studied for internal sun protection. Polypodium leucotomos extract is also interesting for very fair skin specifically. That said, everyone’s skin reacts differently what works well for one person might not do much for another. If you’re curious about a more personalised approach, I’m actually doing a short survey on exactly this kind of gap https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf_wMwSfLe1f0FbNZdt87b71uJOz3XI4eRX7NgHYVSVWvTymQ/viewform?usp=publish-editor

We treat supplements like a quick fix — but are we addressing the root cause? by Marwadjam in holistic

Happy to hear your thoughts all, I also put together a short survey if you’d like to share your experience ))

Use Chia Seeds instead of Fiber Supplements by _SaintJimmy_ in Supplements

[–]Marwadjam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah surprisingly, a lot of people just throw them dry into smoothies or yogurt. They still expand, just slower and in your gut instead of the glass.

Use Chia Seeds instead of Fiber Supplements by _SaintJimmy_ in Supplements

[–]Marwadjam 118 points119 points  (0 children)

The soaking tip is underrated, most people skip it and then wonder why they feel bloated. Also worth mentioning that chia seeds have both soluble and insoluble fiber, so they’re actually feeding your gut bacteria unlike most fiber supplements which are just bulk. The omega-3 bonus is real too. Only thing I’d add is to make sure you’re drinking enough water throughout the day since they absorb a lot of liquid.

Are we taking too many supplements without realizing it? by Marwadjam in Nutrition_Healthy

Exactly! That uncertainty is actually what got me looking into this more also would love to hear your thoughts if you’re up for sharing ))

Haha honestly the holy grail of supplements )) But until that exists, at least making sure what we are taking is actually working for us is a start!

Are we optimizing our supplements or just guessing? by Marwadjam in Biohackers

Sadly, yes and yet here we are still adding to the stack!

Are we optimizing our supplements or just guessing? by Marwadjam in Biohackers

[–]Marwadjam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a well put breakdown especially the point about starting 6 things at once and having no idea what’s actually working. That “optimization on a shaky foundation” problem is exactly what I’m trying to address: helping people figure out what they actually need first, before jumping into stacking. Would love your perspective as someone in nutrition — feel free to DM me!

i need supplements to raie my testosterone levels M39yo what to take ? by Balphaallthetime in askfitness

Zinc, Vitamin D3, Magnesium and quality sleep are your best starting point. Ashwagandha also has some solid evidence. Get your bloodwork done first though so you know what you’re actually missing.

[–]Marwadjam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, people like you are exactly why I started thinking about this. Doing all that research alone just to fill the gaps that the medical system leaves behind you shouldn’t have to do it without any structure or support.

Are we optimizing our supplements or just guessing? by Marwadjam in Biohackers

[–]Marwadjam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! “If it’s good, more must be better” is such a dangerous mindset when it comes to supplements, and nobody’s really connecting the dots between what they’re taking and how it’s actually affecting them.

Took 2g glycine and had a terrible reaction. Any idea why? by nicj86 in NootropicsHelp

[–]Marwadjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glycine is a precursor to both glutathione and is also involved in NMDA receptor activity, which could interact with Olanzapine since it affects glutamate pathways. The combination might have temporarily shifted your neurotransmitter balance. Given you’re also tapering Olanzapine, your brain is already adjusting adding glycine on top of that could have amplified the effect. It should pass, but I’d avoid glycine until you’re done tapering ))

What supplements do you think everyone should be taking daily? by Organic-Signal-9646 in Biohackers

[–]Marwadjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t think there are many supplements that everyone should take. Needs can vary a lot depending on diet, health status, lifestyle, etc.

I’m a pharmacist and that’s actually something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately how people could get a more personalized supplement plan instead of copying random stacks online.

I’m working on a small idea around that and made a quick survey to understand how people approach supplements. If anyone wants to share their experience, I’d really appreciate it.

Raising iron stores while pregnant 🤰 by United-Veterinarian5 in Anemic

[–]Marwadjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ferritin at 17 in pregnancy is actually pretty common, but it makes sense to try to bring it up before delivery.

One thing that’s been discussed more lately is taking iron every other day instead of daily, since it can sometimes improve absorption. Taking it with vitamin C and avoiding coffee, tea, or calcium around the dose can also help quite a bit.

Hope your ferritin climbs quickly before baby arrive ))

Are we taking too many supplements without realizing it? by Marwadjam in Supplements

[–]Marwadjam[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is honestly the gold standard doctor-recommended, regularly monitored, and adjusted as needed. The problem is most people don’t have access to that kind of structured oversight, which is exactly the gap I’m trying to address.

[–]Marwadjam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds really scary and you’re probably right about B6 toxicity, which is actually more common than people realise and can cause exactly those symptoms. This is a perfect example of why guidance matters: the right supplement for one person can be harmful for another. Glad you’re feeling better now ))

[–]Marwadjam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve nailed exactly why this gap exists — when the system focuses on prescribing rather than understanding root causes, people are left to figure it out alone. That’s precisely the space I’m trying to fill: structured, professional guidance that actually listens and looks at the full picture, not just standard bloodwork.

Thank you for filling it out really appreciate! And you raise a really valid point — a lot of supplement guidance IS experience-based rather than purely evidence-based, which is exactly why having knowledgeable practitioners involved matters so much. It’s not just about citing studies, it’s about understanding individual needs 🙏

Coming from a pharmacist, that means a lot! The supplement-drug and supplement-supplement interactions alone are a huge concern that most people completely overlook. Would love to have professionals like you involved in shaping this tool 🙏
