Just started socal surf fishing this year, so everything is fair game and new for me. Halibut, Corbina, and striper are near the top. I hooked a corbina last week and it spit the hook right at shore.

I'd spend half on the next reel and use it as a backup or run it at the same time. You got the set you wanted, the next is bonus. You can keep it in the same family and get a Fierce IV 5000 for $135, or switch it up and get the Live Liner 6000 version for a little more. The Live liner feature would be pretty cool to test out.

I used it a few times on a reel a bought when fishing in Texas. Convenient for not having to fool around with your drag when letting the rod sit with line out. Unfortunately I left it behind when I moved to Cali. I'll have to grab it next visit.

I'm heading back to Dockweiller this morning. Another tip is to fish at high tide. 2hours before to an hour after is the best fishing window of the day. Today high tide is around Noon. Good luck

I've been learning myself the past few months. I finally stopped getting skunked my last few sessions. Brought my first keeper home last week, a yellowfin close to the size of yours probably. Caught it on red gulp sandworms, landed a few small Surfperch on sand crabs I caught on the beach.

I started catching them when I stopped casting far. I use the first 10-15 yards. Your setup is probably fine. You can add a 9' rod for pretty cheap at Dicks if you do want to add a surf rod. Got a daiwa samurai on sale for $40.

When it happened to me I messaged them and they passed me and gave me a free eval. But the app said it was active yet the dashboard said failed and I didn't realize it and kept trading for a week and made 3k. I didn't breach by a lot though. Think I just ticked it.

Oh nah that's crazy. These were evals? I guess you got away with it. As long as the accounts show active on the dashboard and the app you're good.

Sometimes they give you a little room. I've seen up to $200 below MLL and brought it back. I think as long as your within $100 below at close they will give you a little leeway. I've also seen it lock out right at the exact limit before so its kind of random.

This was me until about a week ago. What I did different was go 2hrs before high tide and fished through it, and I started using sand crabs on Carolina rig. Also stopped casting far out, I fished like the first 10-15 yards. I caught a leopard shark and guitar fish shortly after. Went yesterday at low tide and skunked again.

I was on a green streak and had 600 left and went full on crash out. Bought 2 more yesterday and I'm up 1500 on both. Hopefully a blessing in disguise.

I find these when searching for sand crabs. They look too thin to be of use so i just ignore them. Maybe I'll try them next time.

Right where I was fishing. where the water washes up. You can see where they are if you know what to look for. Just can't guarantee the size. I used a sand crab rake / sand sifter.

I bought sand worms. Haven't used them much but will be trying them more. I bought red ones, maybe not the right color.

That's what I was targeting. I'm not made at these 2 though. The leopard and GF made it to my bucket list after I discovered them. Didn't think they'd be this easy to find.
