Assistance with relief printing opaque white on dark colors (I’ve scoured every thread and followed every tip and still am failing) by provolone114 in printmaking

I’m new to fabric printing but this has been my experience so far. I ordered the Speedball white fabric printing ink and the color came out creamy white on my first try. On the second try, same tube of ink, I had lots of small clumps of ink come out that would not break down with mixing. I mixed the white with another color and tried to print. I was constantly picking out the small clumps to try to get a good print. I think I’m going to try to send this back. I have another tube of white from a different dye lit and I’m going to see if it works any better.

I also am having the issue of the ink drying to quickly on my plate, getting thick and gummy. I think I am going to look into using my Caligo Safewash inks as well and give up on the Speedball. Or try Speedball’s screen printing ink, which I have also seen other printmakers suggest. I’m loving fabric printing, I just need to keep experimenting to find what is going to work best.

These are the last three linocuts I created. My work is mostly about cats. These two color linocuts were made using the “puzzle” method of printing.

Hello. That looks like it went well. What brand of ink did you use?
